Today 12 GoodGymers ran or cycled to support conservation work at Mousehold Heath.
We met Will at St James Hill on Britannia Road, an area of natural habitat for a rich variety of wildlife including Common Whitethroat - the only place in Norwich this species can be found.
We went to an overgrown area that had grown so high it obscured one of the finest views in the city.
Armed with loppers and saws, we spent an hour cutting everything back and carrying the long branches to a clearing below. It was amazing to see the results after we finished! Now anyone wanting to sit on the bench could see right across the entire city.
Shout Out to Alice who attended her first session.
High Five's for Eloise who completed her 50th Good Deed!

A nice morning helping out with a bush that had grown a bit to big at Mrs Vs house.
They had tools and I got started, climing a small step ladder to get to the high bits too, the bush was starting to get unruly and was drowning out plants around so it was a good idea to tackle it now. I took about 2-3 ft off the height and some of the drooping branches.
During the work the council services truck saw me working and offered to lend me loppers for the thick branches and even offered to take the branches away in their flatbed truck. They then helped Mrs V remove a tree entirely near the house, so they are the true heroes of the day!

Tonight 16 GoodGymers ran or cycled to support East Anglia Children's Hospice in Plumstead Road.
We had extra lights and visibility while running to the task, as we were supporting This Girl Can's campaign #LetsLiftTheCurfew to raise awareness of womens safety exercising outdoors in the darker months.
At the store we were given plenty of tasks, cleaning shelves, taking down window displays, sorting out books / furniture and breaking down boxes. It was also a chance to hunt for some bargains when sorting through donations!
Hi Five to Maddy for reaching her 100th Good Deed!! In her words she 'joined GoodGym so she didn't have to run in the dark in winter on her own' - and that is why we are here!
Thanks everyone for making this community a safe and supportive place for all.

Thanks Woody for the pun!
Today 7 GoodGymers ran 4km join local residents and volunteers at Edmund Bacon Close.
The venue had been supplied with tools, bulbs and trees to be planted including Acers, Prurius, Viburnham and Jasmine. Thankfully the rain had stopped but the ground was soft so we got to work digging and planting in different areas of the grounds.
After an hour we had planted the trees and clusters of daffodills, snowdrops, bluebells and crocus.
We love forward to returning in the spring to see what has grown!

Tonight 6 GoodGymer's ran to St Catherine's Church to help prepare their wild meadow.
It was the first time we have visited and Jan the task leader was delighted when she heard what GoodGym can do.
Armed with rakes we helped clear the area of dead grass, and exposed the soil in order to scatter wild flower seeds which were provided by MX Green Hearts - a movement set up to improve green spaces in the Mile Cross Estate.
After 45mins so many bags of grass had been collected we had filled the boot of Jan's car! So with the light fading we lined up for a group photo beside the words 'You Are Loved'.
There's a lot to love about GoodGym!
