It's been an extremely difficult Xmas for everyone this. No more so than for older people in Care Homes who have been unable to see their families for the last 9 months. It really is heartbreaking.
That's why we wanted to do something for some of the care homes/housing with care we've visited in the past, as we couldn't visit them in person this year to play games or sing carols. Instead, we sent the residents at Redmayne View a Xmas Card, some of which were made by our members.
It was great to see so many GoodGymers get involved with this task, some of who were from other GoodGym areas across the UK.
These tasks have brought a smile to everyone's face, Merry Christmas to all of you.

When we arrived at Grapes Hill Community Garden, we met with Rosie who explained what we had to to then split up to complete the two mini tasks. Leafletting aficionados Stephen, Jonathan and Cheska got to task on the local area posting flyers about the 'Nature Art in the Garden' event happening this weekend. Whilst Elizabeth led the weeding troupe of Jennifer, Jess, Gemma and Angelika who donned gloves and some obscure picking instruments to clear the weeds and make the garden look tidy, ready for its weekend visitors. We reunited for a group shot and a snoop at all the edible goodies on offer in the garden.

Great report Jess. Lovely to be back out and about and to catch up with fellow GG's :) I very much enjoyed the apple I got to take home for tea, yum! Rosie said they'd like us back again so hopefully we'll get a request to revisit soon.

8 Goodgymmers and a mini Goodgymmers turned up to Catton Grove Community Centre this evening. After a brief introduction we were given the instruction, "we don't care what you do. If it looks untidy, fix it."
Elizabeth set to work cleaning the brickweave of weeds, Darren trimmed some overhanging trees and Bobby and Jonathan got to work on some barbed wire that had become embedded in the ground. The two Kathryn's started to clear an overgrown bed of brambles and dying plants and the other Goodgymmers set about with shears and gloves, clearing the bushes and pavements around the entrance.
Throughout all this the rain did not stop and only got harder on the way home so I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say it was up there in the 'Soggiest task' rankings.
Still, we made a good dent in the jobs to do list and will return over the next few weeks to do more for them.
