📍Whitehill Allotment Society CB5 8LZ
Maintaining the allotment in good condition ensures it's a great space for the local community to enjoy - many of whom don't have their own gardens or growing spaces.

Armed with pickers, bags and high vis, three eager GoodGymers took to the streets of Cambridge to fight the war on waste. 💪
Our expert litter picker, Nick, led the way to some of the worst areas for litter, including a section of the Cam. We collected bottles, plastic, and a disproportionate number of tissues. Nick added to his vape and ring pull collection, ensuring all are disposed of responsibly or recycled ♻️
It was our first litter pick group run and it certainly added an interesting element. We definitely got better as the run went on, spotting the smallest bits of rubbish hidden in hedgerows (as well as very obvious takeaway boxes on fences). Although we didn't find anything too unusual, there's always next time!

This week, we returned to Castle School and continued our mission to clear up their green spaces. 🌱
We set to work de-weeding the borders around the driveway, tidying up and sweeping away the leaves that have started to fall with the change of season. 🍂
This week, we were overjoyed to welcome Daiana, Andrew and Kei 😃 So as well as all the digging, we had a lovely time chatting and getting to know one another. We made a great team and between us filled 2 wheelie bins with green waste! ♻️

This morning, we made the most of the lovely weather and helped out at the 3rd Brook Leys parkrun. 👟👟
I arrived nice and early for pre-event set-up, starting with helping to set up the finish funnel. Ann arrived shortly after, meeting us at the shipping container near the start/finish. Together, we walked the route around the lake to put up signs helping runners navigate this new course. 🧭
When the time came, I headed to the start line and Ann to her marshal spot. We had a fantastic time running with and cheering on over 500 runners and walkers. 🏃♀️👏
A huge well done to all who took part and volunteered to make this event possible! A very wholesome start to the weekend. ☺️

From mindfulness to mangoes, the festival had it all
We attended the annual Cambridge Wellness Festival to promote GoodGym and encourage more people to get active and give back 🫶
We had some brilliant conversations with people attending the festival about the wellbeing benefits of GoodGym, and with local organisations about future community missions.
Whilst there, we had to try out some of the activities on offer, so Caroline jumped at the chance to try some inclusive cycling with bikeworks and I did some guided meditation. In need of some refreshment, we went for a smoothie, the catch being that we had to mix it ourselves by peddling furiously on stationary bikes. Cue a little GoodGym competition 💪
Big shout out to David from GoodGym Luton who flagged the festival - quite literally, by sharing the info with us and bringing the GoodGym flag! 🚩
