Check out this fabulous crew! We enjoyed a lovely run in the sunshine while spreading the word about Myton Hospice’s Glow for Myton and abseiling event. We were leafleting machines, delivering nearly 700 flyers and clocking up 7k running around like superheroes!
We split into two awesome teams of five to tackle even more houses, and we smashed it. High fives all around, everyone!

Last night we had 14 GoodGymers all set for action. We managed to just dodge the downpour and half of us tackled a sweaty run over to the allotments on what ended up being a very warm evening. Turns out I totally underestimated the distance but everyone smashed it.
When the runners arrived, the early birds (who had made there own way there) were already in full swing with Nigel, Graeme, Chris, Claire and James moving bark chippings with wheelbarrows, Jackie on the spreading and Sharon and Steve weeding around the mud kitchen area.
The runners joined in with Chloe, Georgia, Vani and Laura jumping right into the weeding and Dale on bush trimming duties. Before we knew it the communal area was prepped with bark chippings, the beds clear from weeds and the hedge looking neat, all set for their allotment BBQ next week.
With the runners needing to hit the road again we capped it off with a group snap (not snack - ha!) and made our way back to base. A few stayed longer to wrap things up with James and Steve dedicated to completing the brick base for the wormery before the clock ran out.
Fantastic work everyone, Gareth has messaged me this morning to thank you all lots and to say how great you have left the allotments looking. Nice one!
Next week we are gearing up for a rounders game! It might have been a while since some of you played but it should be a great opportunity to stay active and have a great time together (and this time i will be bringing snacks!). If you are not up for playing you can always come for the social, have a chat, help set up and maybe keep score? Hope to see you all there!

Well talk about spicing up our run! It was a hot hot one and despite the heat six brave souls showed up for our group jog tonight.
Originally we had plans to revisit Harmony Hub but that went kaput due to staffing issues, so it was decided that we go for a litter pick instead.
We strolled down the canal enjoying the shade and scenery. Pairing up we scoured the canal banks for rubbish, picking anything up in our tracks. The canal path was mainly tidy, with a few items floating just out of arms reach. We left those for the ducks to admire as we went on our way.
Well done making it out tonight all, hope you made it back in time for the footie!

11 Goodgymers went to the Food Union allotment.
Our task for the evening was to clear weeds, grass and nettles that had started to take over one of the corners of the allotment. Food Union feels like an oasis of calm not far from the city centre, and we had a good catch up chat whilst tidying up the beds. Trying (and sometimes failing) to avoid the mega nettles at full strength, we cleared lots of bindweed tangled around the fence, played with galium and newbie Kyle demonstrated his musical skills with only a blade of grass (well done for completing your first task with GG!). We posed for a few photos around the fire circle and found out about the summer solstice event next week.
Great to see you all, see you again next week for some more goodgym fun!

7 mighty GoodGymers arrived at the Carriers of Hope warehouse ready for action.
James, Nigel and Laura tackled the task of sorting through big buckets of miscellaneous items into crates, with James showcasing his unique folding techniques and Nigel serving up a side dish of jokes to keep morale high.
Meanwhile Georgia, Lil and Chloe bundled nappies into different sizes which proved to be a nice task, perfect for a leisurely chat without requiring too much focus, with Chloe cleverly labeling their workspace Nappy 'n' natter.
Chloe and Dale sorted some Christmas decs into a big box then Dale was left to fight a tangled mess of Christmas lights which had been put on good and proper. With a bit of a a wrestle he conquered one half of the chaotic knot but couldn't face the other so Laura came to help out. Luckily with a second to spare we emerged triumphant!
Brilliant work everyone!
