Lambeth Report written by Sarah Beck
Our first trip back to Papa’s Park this year (I think!) to get rid of some pesky weeds and clear some branches that had fallen down in the wind. Jess, Ella and I dug out a load of stinging nettles and other unwanted weeds from a raised bed and then around the big tree. Whilst discussing which milestones we were about to hit. Jess is a few good deeds from 100 and is planning a community mission in a couple of weeks. Go Jess! Mark arrived with a special guest who was here to find out more about GoodGym Lambeth and told us about a healthy living project he’s setting up soon to support older people possibly in Lambeth. After an hours work we headed off having cleared a few areas of weeds.

Get Rid Of And Donate needed our help with accepting and sorting donations arriving at the drop off point at St Faiths community centre. Ella and myself arrived as the rain tipped down and quickly assembled the trestle tables and started accepting lots of bags and boxes of donations straight away. We followed the instructions left for us and sorted the items by type; kids clothes, adults clothes, books etc just with some items defying our sorting parameters! Once our time was up, we ensured everything was tidy and made our ways home thankful that the rain had passed. Nice working with you Ella!

Lambeth Report written by Mark Gilyead (he/him)
Tentatively venturing out despite the threat of rain, a gang of 7 do-gooders headed to the mighty Brixton Windmill for a spot of gardening.
There were plenty of energetic dogs about but they just about managed to let us get on with our activities in peace.
We managed a whole lot of stuff:
Ella and I were moving and spreading mulch around in a raised bed some GGers had erected a few weeks back.
Laura was helping plant some little shrubs around the Windmill's brand new flagpole!?
Esse and Jason got stuck in straight away cutting down a little bush that was riddled with black aphids or something. Jason then proved himself to be a master-grafter, cutting out bits of grass from between the pavement slabs and putting them in areas that were worn down from walkers.
And Shauna and Sarah were trimming back a bush which was growing out a little too far. A passer-by suggested that now was not exactly the best time for chopping bushes because of birds nesting, but it was okay - they'd kept a keen eye out for any possible nests.
After a whole hour and a half (and just one short-ish, sharp shower), we called it a day.
Lovely to see, meet and re-meet you guys! Solid job! 🥳
No birds were harmed in the writing of this run report.
