Eight GoodGymers headed to beautiful Morden College, a residential home for older people, last night for an evening task that quickly became one of our favourites yet.
Meeting at Charlton House our ice breaker question was: 'If money were no object, where would you retire?' Answers ranged from Australia, Miami, Tenerife and London...and by the end of the evening, several of us had of course changed our answers to Morden College 😎
Special welcome to the crew to Mark on your first good deed with us - lovely to meet you and hope to see you back again soon!
After a 3km run, Meryl and Zoe from Morden College welcomed us warmly as we got stuck into sweeping the pathway and pruning the hedges outside the grounds. Lots of passers-by stopped to thank us while we worked, always a lovely reminder of how much these small acts matter. A section of the pathway is now looking much clearer and we'll be back to continue the job!
After the task, things got even better. Barry very kindly opened the bar specially for us, and we enjoyed a couple of rounds chatting away in the garden as the sun went down. Absolute bliss.
We’d love to come back soon to this haven in blackheath to continue along the pathway and maybe even help out in the beautiful gardens themselves, building planters for the veggies!
Next week we're gardening at St Alfege's School in Greenwich.
This bank holiday weekend, we've got:
Volunteering at Parkrun and Junior Parkrun
Until next time, wonderful people!

Last night brought us to Plumstead, some of us running by the river, others walking and meeting us at the location for our glamorous task of litter picking a particularly grotty spot. Good deeds definitely earned for this one! Thankfully the rain held off and we busily collected a whopping 28 bags of bottles, wrappers, and oddly some hair? It's surely Incredibles what 11 commited GoodGymers can achieve in a short space of time - great work everyone.
A huge welcome back to Kevin, who has already smashed FOUR tasks since joining last week 👏 and big cheers to Hope on your second GGG group run, great to have you with us again!

10 goodgym-ers met for tonight's task at Woolwich Crossrail, and after a hop, skip, & an ice-breaker discussing favourite toys, made our way uphill to one of our regular venues, Dee's Childcare. We'd hedged our bets on what tasks awaited us, often presented with garden toy-making adventures of our own at this nursery with a fantastic outdoor space.
Once there, while one group got on with weeding the crop- growing beds in the back garden, team Hedge embraced their inner beauticians, clipping away at a massive hedge growing on on side of the front driveway which had become overgrown & blocking the natural light to the front of the building. Defoliage-ation indeed!
Bags & green bins full of greenery for recycling, we all finished the task in a much better Hedge space.
Welcome to GoodGym Greenwich to Hope and Kevin! Thanks all & see you soon 😊

10 GoodGymers made their way to The Prince Phillip Maritime Centre in Kidbooke for tonight's task, daydreaming of favourite holiday destinations as the sun started its daily descent.
A mixture of tasks awaited us, starting off with adventures in DIY, putting together a potting bench and a shelving unit for the greenhouse. Divided into two teams, we gave TV gameshows a run for their money in a race to be the first to complete their structure (obviously ensuring thoroughly stable and well-connected results).
Out to the garden now, where we put the newly built equipment into place and gave the recently potted seedlings a sprinkle of water. The centre's herb garden is looking in Mint condition 🌱 and hopefully will be joined by the various plants from the greenhouse once they're strong enough.
A spring task isn't complete without a little gardening, so while some got on with some wedding & watering the raised beds, others in the team made a start on our final piece of Arch-itecture. Time, however, was as ever our Arch Enemy, and whilst we made a great start on this last building task, completion is delayed until our next task at this venue. As a wise man once said, 2 out 3 ain't bad (and we definitely managed 2 and a half...!)
Great to see everyone & thank you all! 😊
