Twenty whole GoodGymmers defied the rain forecast and were rewarded with perfect running weather to return to the lovely (if slightly overgrown) Brunswick Cemetery. It was great to welcome Natàlia to her first good deed and marvel that Andy had managed to create a second profile for his second good deed so had to complete the online training twice too! The runners were soon off in an Alice Rose sandwich - Alice Rose Whale at the front and Alice Rose Dalrymple back marking - a very effective method we recommend to other areas.
With the addition of "high quality" hand forks and rakes from Poundland (£1.50 each - inflation has arrived at Poundland), the cemetery was a sea of red fighting greenery as oodles of bindweed, sticky bud, grass and dandelions were transported away from the flower beds and paths into the dumpy sacks which were soon full enough for Dom to take on a core workout jumping on/in them.
Whilst Di from the Friends group chopped back the last of the big ornamental grasses, the spiral path was being cleansed and widened (it turns out were going to be able to double the width of most of the path we've found so far, but not more than that, Tim!
Sara was in her element grabbing huge handfuls of bindweed and sticky bud and chasing roots back through the ground as far as the eye could see.
Dom and Jason took on the task of digging out bramble roots and small sycamores armed with only a border fork and trowel - astoundingly successfully.
We didn't really want to leave, except it was our monthly GoodGym Eats arranged this month by Shreena to the new HOBA Kebab, where we found Art with his hand in a glass of ice - he'd skipped GoodGym to go to his unicycle class (no, really) and sprained a finger - that'll teach him.
Another fabulous night of community, progress and a lot of laughs.

Joe Wannell has done their first good deed with GoodGym.
Joe is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.

It was a fantastic night to be joined by a group from SR2 who are GoodGym-minded souls from a socially-responsible recruiting company who are on the lookout for lovely volunteering opportunities - a perfect match! Welcome Andy, Caitlin, Joe, Steve, Matt, Hannah, Olivia, Eleanor and Emma, don't be scared that GoodGym legend Dave has completed over 1,000 good deeds - you're all on your way to milestone t-shirts now!
After some quick introductions and warm ups, 15 runners and 3 walkers set off for Southville, chattering all the way and sending Hugh scurrying off for more paint and super soft brushes to go with the brooms, trowel, dustpan and brown paint.
The outside play space was awash with GoodGymmers , everywhere you turned. The very exciting addition of white paint (did I mention the new super soft brushes already?) meant being slightly more careful of drips and spills. Unless you could pass it off as bird poo, of course. Meanwhile Tim mastered the climbing wall and Sarah showed amazing agility after her 45-mile run at the weekend!
Before we knew it was time to tidy up and organise group photos under the amazing wisteria and surrounding the teepee with pencil toppers adorned in white- we don't think Hugh's noticed yet...
There was a bit of a sprint finish to the run heading back to Queen Square and it was dry enough to lie on the grass for post-run stretches for the first time this year.
