Tonight we were tasked with clearing old garden waste that couldn't be utilized as compost and rescuing the old wormery. It was great to welcome Lucy for their first task and our visitors from Portsmouth GoodGym. Many hands got to work filling bin bags and wheelbarrows with the waste to transport it through the farm and out to the waste collection point. It took a very particular skill set to not roll the full barrels out of the wheelbarrows on route! The farm has a brand new accessible path that has been laid and the route is now looking a lot smarter thanks to our efforts. We finished the session with some cake to celebrate my birthday and the approach of the end of the January challenge.

From 15th to 24th February 2025, Southampton will be illuminated by City Reflections, a spectacular light trail event. The event is taking place to celebrate people in Southampton who make a difference, big or small. 300 nominations were from the community to spotlight their legends and these people will be featured in an immersive light installation celebrating local heroes, friendly neighbours, and quiet forces for good!
We were tasked this evening with leaflet dropping the area near the end of the light trail route on mansel rd east and evenlode rd. Unfortunately many of the flats on evenlode rd had already had their access turned off for the evening but sarah kathryn chris and i successfully traversed the entirety of Mansel Rd East and delivered lots of leaflets.
I forgot to take a photo (oops!) so heres the one of chris from the litter pick with obligatory shoe again!

We had a great turnout for our first session of the year at Rose Road including a special guest all the way from London, Ivo, the founder of GoodGym. We were tasked with sorting headbands which will be sold by the fundraising team at festivals during the summer. Many hands were needed as there were literally hundreds of every colour you could imagine and style. Yes crab is a style! In addition to the headbands we also had some creative hands working on a selfie frame of roses. We all agree our glue gunners did a fabulous job. A great indoor task for a chilly winters evening. We look forward to seeing what task Rose Road finds for us on our next visit!

We were all super excited for an indoor task tonight out of the cold helping Rose Road prepare for their Christmas Fair at the weekend. Rose Road provided the bags and we brought the enthusiasm! It was a very satisfying task getting the children's gift bags all ready for Santa to give out. We were an organised machine with myself, Abby, and Stephanie filling the bags in no time! Helen and Kathryn were the with the wrapping skills to get the tombola ready. We just had time to finish off labeling some of the children's present donations and putting some gift tags on the bottle tombola. Thanks to Chloe for keeping us hydrated with cups of tea and coffee too! We hope Rose Road's Christmas Fair is a huge success and look forward to helping again at the carol concert in a few weeks.

Back to the farm for more edging duties this evening. The majority of the team got stuck in edging whilst Helen and I became brushers - brushing away all the debris from the edgers!
We did such a good job we moved swiftly on to the front of the farm ☺
