GoodGym Lambeth Run Report 🏃‍♀️💪

This week we were off to Holy Trinity Church to help Nicole with our final festive fix-up of the year - and boy, did we move things along! 🎄

The Mission: Operation Party Prep 🎉

Our task? A classic case of shift-and-shuffle as we helped clear space under HT for this weekend's celebrations. We moved items into storage faster than you can say "Good-Gym-nastics!" 💪🏼

With boxes relocated and clutter conquered, the space was transformed from storage chaos to party paradise. Talk about a moving experience! 📦✨

But Wait, There's More! 🏃‍♂️💨

Now for the really important bit - we had somewhere to be, and fast! Our end of year social and quiz was calling, and we weren't about to miss out on our chance to show off our big brains alongside those big biceps. 🧠💪

Quiz Night Spectacular! 🎊🍾

Our lovely group gathered for an epic battle of the minds (and puns) featuring: - 5 quiz rounds mixing GoodGym trivia with general knowledge 🤓 - A mystery challenge round that had everyone scratching their heads - Plenty of not-so-serious shenanigans and creative chaos 😂

In the end, it was the Big Ballerz who took home the glory! 🏆 But as the old game show wisdom goes: "Everyone was a Winner!" (Especially when there's good company, great laughs, and possibly some festive treats involved) 😊

This week's mission: Litter Pick Bingo and Plastic Patrol! 💪🏼

TRASH TALK 🗑️ Our lovely crew proved that one person's trash is another person's...well, recycling! We gave an old favorite a new twist and honestly, it was RUBBISH (in the best way possible)!

Armed with bags and the Plastic Patrol app, our heroes combed the local area like environmental detectives, picking up every piece of recyclable waste we could find. We bagged it, logged it, and made sure it all ended up in the right bin. Because sorting is our cardio! 📱♻️

PICK OF THE BUNCH 🌟 Huge shoutout to our usual cast of legends: Fi, Katie, Ben, and Tilly - you absolute trash pandas! 🦝 We love you guys! Your dedication to keeping Lambeth clean while getting fit is truly un-RUBBISH-able! 🤗

THE AFTERMATH 🍻 As if picking up litter wasn't rewarding enough, tonight was a RUNNER MANDATED SOCIAL (the best kind of mandate, let's be honest). The whole crew headed to the pub afterwards to raise a glass to our success. Cheers to making the world a better place, one pint and one piece of plastic at a time! 🍻

When Plans Go A-rye (mill)! 🌾

This week served up a last-minute plot twist worthy of a Halloween thriller! Our original task got cancelled faster than you can say "trick or treat," but did that stop our intrepid crew? Not a chance! We pivoted quicker than a Jack Russell chasing squirrels and headed straight to Brixton Windmill Gardens for some leafy heroics. 🎃

Mission: Help Jean rake in the Halloween spirit!

Armed with scrapers, rakes, brooms, and a couple of one-tonne builders bags (because we don't do things by halves!), we set about gathering every last leaf we could find. Future mulch? More like future GOLD, am I right?! 💰🍁

The team was absolutely raking it in - quite literally! We swept through those gardens like a pack of highly motivated border collies on a mission. Speaking of which... 🐕

Tonight's burning question: If you were a dog, what breed would you be?!

Turns out the GG family is packed with active breeds - no couch potato pugs here! Safe to say we've got more energy than a springer spaniel in a tennis ball factory. 🐶🐺⚡

Mission: Rush Common Deep Clean

This week our heroic band of litter-busting legends descended upon Rush Common for what can only be described as a TRASH-tastic adventure! 💪

Tom from Lambeth Council had issued the call, and boy did we answer it with bells on (and brand new fancy litter pickers in hand)! ✨

The Mission Breakdown 🎯

Our crack team split into two elite units:

• Squad A: Armed with shiny new grabbers, these warriors tackled the park’s surface litter with military precision 🎖️
• Squad B: The bottle top extraction specialists, who gathered around bench areas like archaeological experts, popping those pesky caps right out of the ground!

🏆 Cutest GGer Award goes to Jo’s baby boy - proving that community spirit starts young! This little champion showed us all how to be absolutely adorable while saving the planet 👶✨

🔍 Discovery of the Week: Adam cracked the code on the mystical “bottle top pop technique” - apparently it’s all in the tap! Who knew physics could be so satisfying? Pop goes the litter! 🍾

Mission: Brixton Windmill Allotments Support

This week our fantastic crew of do-gooders traded their usual pavement pounding for some serious dirt work at Brixton Windmill Allotments! 🌾

The Mission Brief 📋

Our wonderful community member Annick needed a helping hand (or seven!) with some essential gardening tasks. We were ready to get our hands dirty - literally!

What We Got Up To 💪

• Manure Madness: We shovelled mountains of the good stuff into wheelbarrows. It was a crappy job, but someone had to do it! 💩
• Spreading the Love: Distributed said manure across the planting patches and bathtub garden - talk about fertilizing friendships! 🌱
• Apple-solutely Essential Work: Collected apples for both composting and juicing. We really apple-ied ourselves to the task! 🍎

We were absolutely thrilled to welcome Andrej to his very first GoodGym session - what a way to break yourself in! Welcome to the family! 🎉

Huge shoutout to Anna who arrived looking the business in her official GG running jacket - she was definitely dressed for success! 🏃‍♀️✨

And of course, our regular dream team was out in full force: Katie, Ben, and Michael - you legends never fail to turnip when we need you! 🥕
