Pick of the Bunch

Lewisham Report written by Kim

In a last minute change of task Lewisham's finest GoodGymers gathered at Glass Mill ready to tackle the litter that is often seen flying around our start point.

We split into 3 groups and went off in different directions to hunt for some litter. The most fascinating find that I'm aware of was part of a microwave!

We ended up with 3 bin bags full of litter in just over half hour which is excellent!!

Next week we are heading to Florence Green and we have a social planned for afterwards.

Whatever it rakes!

Lewisham Report written by Kim

Another week, another GG task - this week we were heading to The Albany to help in the garden. The team at The Albany have been focusing on the garden and making the best use of the space. Our tasks for the evening were to level out the compost pile and a litter pick of the garden. The litter gets blown in by the wind and also the foxes spread it around the garden.

We split into groups to tackle the different tasks and then got to work!

If anyone remembers the giant compost pile from our last visit, it was nearly as tall as most of us and was not easy to maintain. Luckily most of that had been cleared before we arrived so we had the task of leveling out what remained. Hopefully next time we visit there will be some dedicated compost bays!!

The litter team did a wonderful job of collecting 5+ bags of litter! One group I couldn't drag away from a pile of litter, that's definitely a better position to be in than no one wanting to litterpick.

Well done to everyone - we made a huge difference last night! Next week we are heading to Hither Green to do some tree care and post-driving.

No Christmas Trees, One Christmas Tree 🎶

Lewisham Report written by Kim

Due to frozen ground we'd had a change around of tasks and it was another week of finding those abandoned Christmas Tree's around the borough.

We split into groups and tackled the longer roads around Hilly Fields which my logic thought the far end people might not have wanted to drag them all the way to the drop off point but no success.

Then we headed to Ladywell which is usually prime Christmas tree area but not the usual success their either.

We didn't meet the lofty heights of last weeks 30 trees but we did smarten up the streets of Lewisham by finding one tree!! Well done Paul, you saved the task and made sure we didn't go home empty handed.

Welcome Louise to your first group run, hope you enjoyed the session despite the lack of abandoned Christmas trees!

See you all next week!
