Back in Brack-en

Norwich Report written by Ian Gostling

Tonight 19 GoodGymers ran 6km to Mousehold Health to help support the biodiversity in this natural habitat.

It's a regular and popular task on the GG Norwich calender lead by Will the local warden, who provided tools and a gave us a historical background on this famous site.

We split into 2 groups, covering a wide area pulling up bracken to allow heather and other plant species to grow. We also used 5 pitch forks to clear the area of a former chapel ready for a Heritage Open Day History Walk taking place this weekend. See the booking link if you are interested in attending.

We also celebrated the runners, volunteers and cheerleaders, who took to the streets of the city centre for Run Norwich 10km yesterday! Nice one team.

After a swift hours work it was time to bid farewell. We will be back again for more conservation work in the next month.

Aslake it a lot

Norwich Report written by Steven Hitcham

This evening was Elizabeth H's 700th GoodGym deed, what an incredible woman.

We visited Aslake Community Growers. One of the corners had been neglected, so our task was to start to clear it, with the main focus being removing the wire fencing and ivy.

The time went quick but we got a lot done. We finished the evening with some birthday cake.

A Sign of the GoodGym Stars

Norwich Report written by Steven Hitcham

We visited Wensum Park again to continue the work we started last week.

We finished clearing the 12 star sign flower beds. Some needed old roots digging out, lavender cut back, stones removing and some just a complete turnover of the soil.

They are now pretty much ready to be planted.

Well done everyone, we'll have to return later in the year to see how it has flourished over the summer.

We Went Some to the Wensum

Norwich Report written by Steven Hitcham

Try and read the title 5 times as quickly as you can

This evening 12 GoodGymers broke their Wensum Park virginity as we visited there for the first time.

Congratulations to Rose for completing her 100th GoodGym deed!

Also a big welcome to Josie who was partaking in her first good deed.

The task in hand was to dig over so unused flowerbeds so they can be planted with new flowers etc.

Each flower bed already has a different star sign stone in front of it, so the plan will be to full it with flowers that relate to each colour in relation to the star sign.
