16 Goodgymers attended our Monday session to support our local warden Will, to care for Mousehold Heath, an important local habitat.
Will explained to the group the extent of a recent wild fire and all they were doing to reduce local fire risks.
We split into a 3 groups; one moving a drying pile of old bracken, one group bracken pulling, and one removing pockets of gorse and stumps to support fire engine access routes.
A very warm welcome to Eve and well done for joining your first GoodGym session.

This morning 3 GoodGymer's headed out in the sunshine to Lionwood, a small woodland that is known locally for its bluebells in early spring.
Shout out to Rosie who joined us for her first session!
Once we arrived we met the Lionwood Conservation group to assist in removing an invasive plant, the Few-flowered Leek. This plant has spread rapidly in recent years and poses a severe ecological threat by carpeting the woodland floor and smothering native early-spring plants.
We used trowels to remove the bulbs, being careful not to spread little bulblets that could seed new flowers. A slightly tricky task, but we will hopefully see the benefits over time.
In just over an hour the GoodGymer's and Conservation group had made a real difference! We look forward to returning for more tasks in the future.

Tonight we returned to Alfred Nichols Court, running 6km for an Easter Quiz!
This session was organsied as a way to bring local residents together in the communal hall, which is often unused.
The 7 GoodGymer's and 10 residents split into 3 teams to test knowledge of history, Easter facts, pictures & music trivia. We stopped half way to share refreshments provided by Norwich City Council.
The winning team named 'Divorced, Beheaded, Died, Divorced, Beheaded, Survived' took the prize of Easter Eggs & Malteaser's!
It was a really fun evening, with residents already looking forward to having us back.

Tonight 5 GoodGymers returned to Catton Grove Community Centre.
We were tasked with planting various types of bulbs in the flower beds, so 4 of us got to work digging and planting, and even spaced some of the bulbs into a pretty “G” for “GoodGym” shape in the soil!
Another member removed moss and weeds from the patio outside the community centre entrance to freshen it up a bit.
The bulbs we planted last year had already bloomed and looked beautiful, so it will be great to return to see what tonight’s bulbs look like once they are in bloom too.
