It was a beautiful Monday evening when a group of Goodgymers went to The German Church to complete our first task there.

As we all arrived, walking, cycling and running to the venue we were warmly greeted and introduced to three church members who were already hard at work getting the garden ready for their upcoming Summerfest.

We quickly got to work, lopping ivy and overhanging branches, cutting down nettles and raking and sweeping up as we went. The sun and pollen was out and it wasn't long before you could hear the dolcet tones of the summer sneezes from various members of the team which helped us locate each other. They were expecting children at the summerfest and the toy vehicles needed to be washed and then tried out by some of the team....

You would think we would be used to the Goodgym magic yet we all remarked on how much can be done in an hour by a team of people - many hands really do make light work.

The end of the task meant time for a group photo and quickly the treeclimbers of the group found the perfect backdrop.

We left the task happy and content and yet the night was not finished as we went for a sociable catch up in one of the local pubs.

Sadly we were saying goodbye to Sarah tonight as it was her last session before leaving Liverpool we will really miss her and wish her well. She has promised to come and visit so it is not au revoir but a bientot

The Springtime 10k, 5k and kids' races are a very popular date in Liverpool's running calendar. On a gorgeous warm morning, five of us helped run the water station for the 10k. As ever, blown away by the speed of the front runners, the Fab Five swung efficiently into action handing out water bottles to hot and thirsty participants - including several GoodGymmers. Well done all! A special mention to Steph and Bekah who helped with the water station and then went on to complete the 5k! Thanks to Matt and the MerseyRaces team for a great day out, complete with amazing glittery gold medals for all participants. I confess I'm a bit jealous!

This week we were back with Elaine at Urban GreenUp, and what a difference a few weeks makes! The last time we were here was our birthday when we weeded in the pouring rain and darkness. It was so lovely to turn up in the light this time and see how well the space was coming along!

After a quick run from Hope street, we arrived to see that the plants were flourishing, except for two weedy patches - this is where we came in. We made much quicker work of it in the light and the space is now ready for the rest of the bark to go down to allow the flowers to bloom. This is great news to help attract more pollinators to the area. Elaine has already seen a black bumble bee out of hibernation!

We were also treated to a discount code and some chocolates from our new partners Raleigh. I expect to see you all cycling to a group tun soon!

Excellent work team, I can't wait to come back in a few weeks and see the improvement! A great way for me to celebrate my 100th task!
