Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Matthew
On a beautiful Sunday morning 5 GoodGymers from Liverpool went to cycle on tandems with visually impaired members of the charity, Bradbury Fields. This task was due to take place before lockdown and then again in February but due to a storm the event was sadly canceled.
It was an early start for amazing Pauline, Yan, Rowan, Matthew and our even more amazing first timer Matteo. Matteo Thanks so much for turning up Matteo and we hope to see you at lots more events. And it was also great to see Yan back again as well.
It has been such a tough time for us all, so imagine how it has been for our visually impaired friends during lockdown. We got paired up and had a go at cycling in the car park, and then it was off for a short cycle around Croxteth Park. With 7 two seater tandems and one triplet, so we made quite a scene as we cycled about.
A delightful cup of coffee/tea and a bit of cake (and that enormous chocolate with cream for Pauline) and we were refreshed and on our way home. There are plans to do this again soon and give the members at Bradbury Fields more great experiences out and about in the Liverpool area.
We do such a diverse amount of things in the community from gardening, to litter picking, to tandem bike rides, to painting. If you would like to help improve the lives of others in Liverpool then please don't hesitate to get in touch. We'd love to have you help us. You don't need to be a serious runner to join. We hope to see you at a GoodGym task soon.
Bradbury Fields (formerly known as the Liverpool Voluntary Society for the Blind (LVSB) was established in 1857, to provide a service for blind people in their own homes.
