5 Goodgymmers withstood the elements and ran to the Tottenham Community Sports Centre to lend them a hand with a few fun tasks.

A Game Of Two Halves

In a scene reminiscent of a bad pastiche of a Final Destination film, one by one our Goodgymmers started messaging in their reasons why they wouldn't be able to attend tonight: Covid, fevers, colds, unwillingness to commute from Norway for a cold task in Tottenham High Road, even Gramps managed to go and hurt his knee and had to call off the run element of the evening. Thankfully those who could make it in made the best out of a tough Wednesday and after some stupendous solo running/ walking, we all congregated at the Tottenham Community Sports Centre for a night of diverse tasks.

Group A, composed of Sarah, Latoya, and Julie were entrusted with inventorying the first aid room. Meanwhile, Dave and Gramps completed Group B and were put in charge of hanging up the World Cup bunting around the entrance of the Sports Centre.

Cecil from the Sport Centre blew the whistle and our two teams looked lively from the start.

Group B took an early lead when after battling with an old roll of tape, Dave maneuvered his way into his belongings and literally pulled out a roll of the good stuff out of his own bag. He gingerly limbered up the ladder and before you knew it, the bunting was going up smoothly. 1-0 to the (accidentally) all male team.

Group A wasted no time in catching up with Group B and very quickly equalised the score in a glorious example of tiki-taka inventorying. Methodical and efficient, the (accidentally) all female team went through the first aid room with elegance and ruthlessness. 1-1 at half time.

During the break, Gramps commandeered the Sports Centre's sweepstake and bought all Goodgymmers an entry since the funds are all going to a good cause. Julie, Dave, and Gramps had good cause to celebrate indeed as they drew Argentina, Spain, and Germany respectively, while Sarah suddenly found out that the news earlier in the day that Sadio Mané had withdrawn from the World Cup through injury affected her personally more than she expected as she managed to pick Senegal, and Latoya didn't rate her chances much after she picked out Iran.

Back on the pitch for the second half, it got messy in the midfield as both Group A and Group B finished putting up the bunting on one of the hallways. With deadlock almost a certainty, both teams ended up literally going for the same goal as they were asked to fix the nets on the pitches at the back of the Sports Centre. Although both Julie and Latoya ended up in the back of the net, it was definitely a draw by the time the final whistle came.

There were some funny Arsenal-inspired shenanigans in the way to the changing room, next to a large mural of Ledley King, but otherwise a night that promised a lot of drama ended up being a very pleasant match.

Join us next week for a double tasker/social extravaganza. Traid at 6pm, Westbury Banks Nature Reserve at 7pm, and drinks at the Westbury afterwards.

They think it's all over...
