Tonight we headed to St Saviour’s Church for a task that was certainly long overdue! Armed with a giant extendable duster, we tackled the eaves, which looked like they hadn’t seen a clean in about a hundred years! 😂 It was a bit of a reach, but we got them all cleaned up and looking much better. We were also treated to a lovely soundtrack while we worked, with the church choir practising nearby. There’s something rather special about getting a good deed done while enjoying a bit of live music! A big thank you to Liz, Steve, Nick and Kat for coming along and lending a hand. Great work, everyone! Next week we’re off to Bernards Heath for another evening of doing good in the community. Looking forward to seeing you all there! 👋

Tonight we headed back to New Greens Community Garden for our final evening session of the season, as the nights are rapidly drawing in and the light is disappearing far too quickly! But we came prepared… head torches on, shears in hand, and ready for action! 🔦✂️ We got stuck straight in, cutting back all the bushes that were creeping over the fence, pulling away all the vines that had taken hold, and generally giving the boundary a much-needed tidy-up. We also tackled the less glamorous jobs — picking up all the dog poo 💩 and giving the seating area a good weed. Joining us tonight were Liz, Steve, Cat, Nick and myself, with our resident ray of sunshine Danielle there as always, keeping everyone cheerful! It was a great way to finish our evening visits to the gardens for now. We're hoping to get back for some weekend sessions, and of course we'll be back once the lighter evenings return in spring. A big thank you to everyone who's helped out at New Greens over the season — it's been brilliant seeing the garden take shape! 🌿💪

Hi everyone, Tonight we headed to Verulamium Park for a spot of litter picking — because apparently our evening plans now involve hunting for other people’s rubbish! 😂 The park was actually looking pretty good already, but we still managed to fill three bags, so clearly there was some work to be done. It was just me, Nick and Mum tonight, and the three of us had a good laugh while giving the park a bit of TLC. Three bags later and the place is looking even better. Not a bad evening’s work for a small but perfectly formed team! 💪🌳 Thanks to Nick and Mum for joining me, and hopefully we’ll see a few more of you next week. The more people we have, the more rubbish we can confidently point at before someone else picks it up! 😆 Looking forward to seeing you all at the next session. See you then! Andrew

What a great evening at Bernard’s Heath! We had a new comer Kat join us tonight, so it was lovely to welcome a new face to the group. After a bit of a meet and greet, we got stuck into the task — and we certainly weren’t short of materials! We discovered some huge logs and, naturally, decided the best thing to do with them was build a dam! 🌳💪 So David will be very happy with us — although I’m not sure our dam-building skills would pass an official inspection! 😂 There were plenty of laughs, lots of teamwork and, as always, a good giggle along the way. A really fun evening all round. Thanks everyone for coming along, and we’re already looking forward to seeing you all again next week! ❤️

🦋 🌿 Tonight we headed back up to the New Greens Community Wild Garden, where our mission was simple: dump a load of chalk on a giant mound and call it conservation! 😂 We’ve been helping prepare the butterfly mound before it gets seeded, spreading chalk around to create the perfect conditions for a beautiful wildflower habitat. Once it’s all planted and growing, it should become a fantastic little haven for butterflies, insects and all sorts of other wildlife. 🦋🐝🌼 So basically, tonight we were landscapers, gardeners and wildlife architects… although most of the time it just looked like we were throwing white powder at a hill. 🤣 We were also joined by Hannah Crane from GoodGym Head Office, who came along to see what we're getting up to in St Albans — so hopefully she wasn't too disappointed to discover that our idea of a glamorous evening involves a wheelbarrow and a pile of chalk! A big thank you to Hannah, Nick, Danielle and the whole team for another brilliant session. 💪 The butterfly mound is coming along brilliantly, and we're looking forward to seeing it transformed into a buzzing, blooming wildlife paradise.
