Three booketeers

Thursday 21st May

Written by York runner

Only three of us setting up the book sale tonight, but we were pretty speedy and only briefly distracted by the books themselves - the tense but ultimately heartwarming story of the Runaway Pea was Nikki's choice, while James got stuck into a mammoth autobiography of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Lucy went for the apt But excuse me that is my book. Another sale set up to raise valuable funds for Tang Hall Library!

All Book Up

Thursday 30th April

Written by Lyndsey Hay (She/her)

Good Gymers put on their Blue Suede (running) Shoes and headed down to The Burnholme Centre to help sort books for a sale the following day. This task took place in a library, so there was A Little Less Conversation than usual, but we were sustained by our Burning Love of literature. Lucy led the way, a Hard Headed Woman determined to get the job done. How we managed to cram that many books onto the table we'll never know - they just Can't Help Falling over sometimes. Task done, we headed home, with several newly purchased books tucked into bags and bike baskets - we shan't be Lonesome Tonight.

Still doing it

Thursday 26th March

Written by York runner

We've got the book sale set-up down to a fine art - Angela shuttled back and forth with boxes of books from the cupboard, while Becca arranged the children's section for maximum appeal. It was the first time Elle had attended as an organiser - rather than a customer - and she got stuck in, with just the right level of attention to detail (no micro-categories here!). The result? A bumper set of books out ready for the Easter holidays.

Fantastic Fox

Thursday 5th March

Written by York runner

Only two of us setting up the book sale at Tang Hall Library tonight, but Leanne made up for this by coming along in her World Book Day outfit. Although we didn't spot her book, we did spy a collection of tales written by another York Goodgymer! All the funds raised from the book sale will help support this fantastic community hub.

Fit lit

Thursday 5th February

Written by York runner

Four fantastic Goodgymers got a good arm workout hauling out boxes to set up the monthly book sale at Tang Hall Library. There were lots of great books on all sorts of topics: James indulged his love of the celebrity memoir, while Holly checked out the very latest styles in (1970s) knitwear and Amy picked up an introduction to nothing (?!). All the proceeds will go to support this great community venue.

Not fully booked

Thursday 23rd October 2025

Written by James Tilburn

Another month, another book sale. The four of us made light work of the task tonight, finishing with a good twenty minutes to spare.

As the sale stock was lower than usual we had to get creative with our display, giving the collectors edition of the Da Vinci code a better chance to seduce passing library members and find itself a home.
