This evening the task was split between two sites. Eliie, Chris, Finn and Wilson finished a few jobs at the planters, starting with a quick litter pick and then cutting back bigger stems and pulling out more of the wild garlic bulbs.
Sarah and Helen went with Holly to the little orchard at the end of the road. This is an area that was popular with fly tipping and Holly a member of the local resident association asked the council if they could adopt it as part of the wilder scheme. It is now a lovely small green space and we were on hand to give it a good weeding and a dig over.
And why the title??? Lovely Helen ran to the task and got stung by a bee on the way..... and a large fluffy bumble bee was buzzing about the orchard whilst we were trying to weed, and Wilson also unexpectedly but proudly got to wear a 350 good deed cape.... can you beeelieve it!

It will provide a blank canvas for us to start to engage people with local planting and inspire them that they can love where they live!

Today's task involved a lot of raking. The graves were being cleared ready for the memorial weekend in November.
We raked and and filled bags, Chris emptied the bags on the compost, bought them back and we raked and filled them up again... On repeat in the sunshine for a good 2 hour workout.
We were rewarded with a lovely brew and a biscuit at the end 😊

Fresh from seeing the delights of Millbrook dellb6 joined us at the farm. Tonight we were topping up the maze with topsoil. The maze is looking incredible compared to the wasteland it was when we started building it several months ago and has several flowers in bloom and a snake rock!
We were taking soil from behind the woodland walk and transporting them to the maze site - we couldnt get over how dark it got so quickly!
Danni informed us that soon we will be back on goat mountain duties so definitely something to look forward to

We changed things up a bit this evening and opted to do a litter pick instead of the usual leaflet drop - Chris retained his title of can man - scoring us all on the type of can we discovered - 2 points for a red bull!!
It was lovely to be joined by Justin for the first time who dived right in finding lots of litter in tricky to reach spots we hope to see you again soon! ☺
We were also joined by Dellb6 one of ten boomerangs from australia travelling around the world via local parkruns. This was passed to our very enthusiastic Ellie whose job it is to pass it on again this Saturday. This is the most special of the boomerangs as it was named in memory of a lady called Dell who passed away 4 weeks ago. She volunteered at her parkrun in South Beach Australia over 200 times! It was an honour to have Dell with us
