It was a wonderful and rewarding experience. We helped serve food and drinks to visitors, worked alongside a friendly and supportive team, and enjoyed meeting people from different backgrounds. It was great to see the community come together and to be part of an event that made a positive difference. We were grateful for the opportunity and look forward to volunteering again.

Today’s mission went really well. Three of us attended and completed the task successfully. It was a pleasure spending time with everyone, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We had some lovely conversations and shared plenty of smiles. Helped set up the community centre and served lots of food and drinks to those who came to the fayre. It was rewarding to see everyone enjoying themselves, and I left feeling grateful to have been part of such a positive experience. We are looking forward to joining another mission soon.

Another evening of foodie fun at FoodCycle. Lucie and Gill were kitchen queens as they put togetger a delightful meal with help crom two of the FoodCycle team. Lucie played a major role in the Main course team , prepping veg for the fajitas and making a delicious mixed salad. While Gill took charge of dessert, whipping up a lemon sponge which was poured over halved nectarines for a fruity upside down sponge cake. She then prepped a couple of watermelons for a simple starter. Sam arrived at 5pm and was soon elbow deep in the sink. She is amazing at washing up and an absolute godsend to the kitchen team. And then our team was completed with the arrival of Fawaz and Abdulrahman - hists with the most. Great meal and great work team.

When the FoodCycle team is augmented by 6 GoodGymers you know it's going to be a good evening. Gill, Martin and Lucie were in the kitchen and we were faces with a lot of eggs to incorporate into our menu. The starter was an egg mayonnaise salad and Lucie enjoyed every moment of peeling the 28 boiled eggs (or did she?). Gill and Martin turned a large bag of lentils and grated carrots into a delicious loaf using another 25 eggs - this time whisked. Fawaz, Neill and Abdulrahman were enlisted on the hosting team and got stuck into setting up the hall, waiting tables and clearing up at the end. Well done, you all worked hard and we were served and cleared up in record time.

It was one of our hottest evenings at FoodCycle but that didn't put off our trio of GoodGymers from volunteering at this regular task. Gill had got started on a rustle up pudding knowing that there were lots of eggs to use up. She came up with an idea for a fruit flan - orange sponge topped with crème pâtisiere and fresh fruit. Meanwhile Martin was on the main course supporting the team to create a delicious looking plate of roasted potatoes, slaw and veg. Fawaz was a hands on host getting the hall set up, serving the guests and making sure people had plenty of squash to stay hydrated. Guest numbers were down but we think that with the weather being so hit people were just not wanting to be out in the heat.
