Ealing Report written by Iram (She/her)
Each Monday morning, GoodGym helps the South Ealing Food Cupboard volunteers prepare to give away food to the community. Supermarkets and other organisations donate surplus items to prevent waste. A lot of heavy lifting and speedy organisation is needed to get a van-load of food ready to share!
This morning’s haul was a slightly odd selection: white chocolate Easter bunnies, jelly play kits, and a mountain of Cornish pasties. Rebecca and Iram channelled their inner Tetris masters to squeeze the pasties into every available fridge space. Honestly, there were probably more pasties in the room than in the whole of Cornwall! Meanwhile, Jamie did a fabulous job flattening the humongous pile of cardboard, and Martin took on the sun-soaked task of unloading crates from the van and hauling them over to the church.
It was Rebecca’s first GoodGym session and Jamie’s second — lovely to welcome them both! They took to it like ducks to water!

Jamie Wilson earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Jamie completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Jamie was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Richmond Report written by Ken MacKenzie
Five GoodGymers came out to St Mary Magdelene Parish Church in the centre of Richmond to build some hurdles. We welcomed 2 new GoodGymers on their first mission with the same name: Jamie. Anita was at the War Memorial getting the beds ready for planting and Ken was on the other side struggling with some new sticks to make them into hurdles around the wildflower area. Jamie (both) got stuck into cutting sticks and sharpening the ends while Emily set about making holes on the posts for the sticks to go through. It was a hot day and while we made good progress finishing some bits off there will be more stick work on Monday as the task was not completed but a good effort was made.
