A bumper crop of goodgymers turned up to help finish off laying the path for the 'living maze' ahead of the farms open day on Saturday.
It was nice to welcome Kyra to her first goodgym session and also to welcome back Alice,Frederick,Jo and Lexie.
Hannah and Alice got to work borrowing woodchip from other parts of the farm - being resourceful with buckets!
Everyone else was moving the material to be laid on the path from the top of the farm down to the maze site where I was awaiting with a trusty rake to spread it all out.
There wasnt much woodchip mulch to go around but we were pleasantly surprised how quickly it spread!
It was such a lovely evening, with good vibes, sunshine and lovely chats. The perfect session!

Lexie earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Lexie completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Lexie was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Lexie has done their first good deed with GoodGym.
Lexie is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.

Today saw our first visit to Southampton City Farm where we were tasked with cutting back and weeding the woodland walk and depositing new woodchips to help make the walk more accessible to members of the public.
It was lovely to welcome Debbie, Alice,Frederick,Lexie and Jo for their first Goodgym task and to have the lovely Judy and Val join us from Goodgym Portsmouth.
Judy got straight to work cutting back the hedge and Val, Wilson and Hannah did a stellar job loading the wheelbarrows with lots of woodchips and bringing them back to put on the new path.
Sara and Helen did a great job getting up the tough tufty bits of grass to make the path more accessible to wheelchair users and Jo was constantly on the move shifting barrows to the compost site.
Lexie did a great job raking the new woodchips over and Debbie, Freddie and Alice got stuck in cutting the hedge at the bottom of the path back and digging up stubborn bits of grass.
It was a team effort rewarded at the end with getting to see the animals. We hope to be back very soon and to see our lovely new goodgymers and visitors again!
