GG members braved the warm weather to get stuck into a de-weeding task for the community allotment at Raggy Rd Allotment.
we spent an hour and a half de-cluttering the pathways of weeds make the area look more beautiful for the community users.

We met in Upton Court Park on a very warm and sunny morning to litter pick the park and do a short walk in the sunshine. The wildflowers were blooming and we went to see the mural in the grass of Felix the cat 'Its coming home' created by Slough Borough council grounds team on the Heathrow flight path, to be seen by people travelling overhead.

This morning Clare, Mansoor and Manjit helped Slough Anti Litter with their annual upcycling clothes event.
We were supporting the event by helping to sort through donated clothes, get them all hanged up neatly and help customers.
What's amazing about this event is seeing pre loved items becoming someone else's new loved items.
One lady was going to her first ever Asian wedding this evening and she managed to find 2 stunning Indian dresses to wear! The blue outfit matched her blue eyes so well and what was even lovelier to see was that the lady who donated them was there to see the joy of the new owner in getting 2 new outfits....
The event was to help raise money for a wonderful local charity - Sakoon Through Cancer

... helped by one of the watering cans being leaky!! The team coined a phrase ''don't be a drip, get a grip!'' and managed to ferry watering cans in a wheelbarrow so many times that all 5 of the water butts on the allotment were completely full, and still manage to water a lot of the flowers and vegetables as well! The team work and banter was excellent - so there was even time to smell the buddleia - which we decided was our favourite as well the butterlies' favourite! In parallel we managed to completely clear brambles, nettles and grasses to enable access for a lady who has just had hip surgery to get to her raspberry canes and rosemary bush.

My 2nd of 3 GG tasks today was helping to lay wood chip to create a path at College Road Allotments. This path will make some of the pitches more accessible.
Being joined by Clare and Mansoor we soon got into a rhythym of scooping the wood chip into wheel barrows, wheeling it round to the far side of the allotment, laying cardboard then dumping the wood chip on top....and repeat.
Looking forward to more tasks here in future, but first it was time for me to leave and make my social visit (my last task of the day).
