A great turnout for our first school task... No school dinners on the menu today but we did offer a shoulder to crayon at Ryvers Primary School... Thank you to Chrissy one of our regular runners who arranged this task for us
A Squat is a Squat..No??
As we had a longer distance to run today, we headed to the park for a quick warm up and stretches... and Chris learnt that there was more than one variation to the squat! A new piece of knowledge was then shared by Chris regarding pedestrian crossings! We learn so many useful facts from our runners!
I ran so fast I got in-DIG-estion!
We made it to school in super speedy time ( clearly the childhood chills of being late were in the back of our minds) and the lovely Chrissy gave us a low down on the tasks in hand... we divided into three teams and got straight to work
Even in darkening conditions the teams did really well! The painters had quality control checks in place via Sara No fence slat was left untouched... The potters planted cress... I mean viola and pansies which all looked like cress to me into 4 pots... and the ploughers in super quick time cultivated the two large flower beds... and lone man Darren got the task of ensuring the smaller plant holders got the love and attention they needed
Aloe from the other side..
We faired goodbye to Chrissy and team who were doubling up as task owners and runners today as they stayed behind to lock up the school gates and we headed back to base...
Setting Trends the Teachers Way!
Have to give a special mention to our teachers runners Gail, Meera and Keira for always thinking outside the box! When we talk about safety and protective personal equipment they went a step further and donned the white overall
What better way to make sure the red t-shirts stay red! Well done ladies
Next weeks task is a shorter run of 2km each way to The Riverside Centre at Jubilee River..
We have the whats app group set up now so please do feel free to join it ( email me with your number and I will add you)
Christmas PARTY - FRIDAY 30th NOVEMBER 19:30 The Corner House, Windsor

An impressive turnout this evening. Great to see new runners join us every week. A warm welcome to Kam and Niamh one their first Goodgym Group Run... Hope to see you again soon..
Long Run Run A Long Run Run
This was our longest run to date.. a whopping 8km in total... well done to everyone for going the distance and a special thanks to Ciaran from Active Slough for being our back marker...
We arrived at the hospital in time to meet our task owner Elisha who kindly supplied us with cups of water before we started
Pick a Pair at the Park
We paired up and started litter picking the main entrance area to the A&E Ward... 30 minutes later and 10 bags were filled... great efforts by everyone
Stormtropper and No One Got Too Big for Their Boots
Its amazing what people leave behind the bushes... Even Stormzy got ditched Why would anyone do that????
Our local hospital does a great deal to look after us so it was brilliant that we could give something back... I think Tim and Maria won the award for most bags filled.... However, the award for best legs had to go to Darren and Ciaran Matching high vis attire as well!
Next weeks Group Run is nice and local.. 3km total run to The Parvaaz Project... Hope to see you there
Have a great week everyone. Well done on a great run and task this evening
Happy Running ! Manjit

A launch with a bang....29 runners smashed it tonight on the first ever GoodGym Group Run in Slough Town
After the welcome speeches and cheers (thank you Councillor Pantelic for opening our 1st Group Run), we headed out of our base location to do a warm up and ice breaker...28 people had to get to 'knowing me knowing you ahah'
I know you
After a warm up game of getting to know you (we exchanged names and our favourite places to go on holiday)...we headed out on a steady 2km run to the stream at Templewood to give this little hidden gem a strim, trim, pick and prune to allow the vegetation to flourish again. We were met by our first task owner Claire from www.wwt.org.uk (Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust), who are doing an amazing job in transforming the Salt Hill Stream and surrounding areas. She gave us a brief on what we could do to help this community area and divided us into 3 teams:
Each team were tasked to complete their given duties within a challenging 30 minutes. Special shout out to Ricky and his wheelbarrowing buddies for showing true grit and determination of the Slough citizens by wanting to finish laying the wood chips along the path (even when everyone else was lining up for the group photo)
Freedom
We bashed those brambles (Sut Yee in particular looked very fetching in her waders), freed the vegetation, cleared the site of 10 bags of rubbish/debris (and a loo seat!) and covered the path with wood chips...phew! A lot was achieved tonight.
We faired Claire a cheerio and see you later and headed back to base in two groups
Steady vs Speedy
Our return run was a battle of speeds.. we divided into 2 groups...Mo's Speedies and Manjit's Steadies..Just for being speedy, Mo's team had a 2 minute penalty wait as Manjit's steadies headed back to base... suffice to say its steady all the way in Slough.. Great effort by everyone!
Great to see so many people join us this evening.... some of us were established runners, others were first timers...whatever your reason to run, it was fab having you there tonight on our launch event...you all ROCK!
Keep in touch?
We have many means of keeping in touch, so please take a look and join in on our journey to help the communities of Slough
We will be running and doing good every Monday from now on, so please come back and spread the word...together we can achieve so much...Next week we are running a 2km route (one way) to help The Parvaaz Project on Northampton Avenue to have a garden make over
