We had so much going last night so let's get straight into it!
First up the new GGers - we were delighted to be joined by Ellie and Gabriella for their first ever session - great to have you with us guys.
Next we were celebrating bringing up Tilly's ton - her 100th Good Deed - what a fantastic achievement Tilly, well done. To cap it off Tilly also baked delicious blondies for the group!
Then we were also supporting the #Let'sLiftTheCurfew campaign from This Girl Can. GoodGym is proud to offer a safe and welcoming space for women to run during the darker months and last night we spoke about this before the session headed out. For more information on the campaign check out the Sport England website.
And so with Ben working his way through to his next milestone, Run Leader Lucy back with us in Lambeth after a while and legend Michael we set of to meet Mohah, Marie-Noelle and Paul down at Swan Mews.
Our job was simple but fun - shift tonnes (running theme tonight) of compost from the bags to the planters so that the patients of the surgery can use them to plant and garden to support their mental and physical wellbeing.
By the end of the session we had moved at least two and a half bags so 2500kgs of compost which is not to be sniffed at (seriously I wouldn't) and then everyone was ready to wash up and head back towards base at Papa's. Those of a younger disposition then branched off and headed to the pub to toast Tilly's achievement and polish off the blondies.
Huge thanks to all and see you next time :0)

Last night our wonderful Run Leader Joao led the team out to Sunnyhill Primary School to help out on a task organised for us by Task Force hero Jo - teamwork makes the dream work as they say!
as we were heading a bit further afield it meant a meet at Streatham Hill station rather than Papa's and the team set off from there for a short run up the hill to the school.
We had a strong group of 9 willing volunteers and great to have Louise across again to help out, thanks Louise!
Check out the awesome photos (we had too many to include them all so might drop a few on the sosh's) of ourvols shifting woodchip and lifting compost from one area over to where the kids will be using it for gardening lessons.
Last but not least we had Will along who baked us some delicious cookies and that makes it all even better in my book.
Big thanks to all and we look forward to seeing you next week where we will celebrate Tilly's 100th Good Deed so don't miss that and of course those who wish can go for a drink afterwards as well! :0)

Ok so last night didn't quite go to plan and that happens sometimes but at GoodGym we have an awesome group who take things like this in their stride!
Let's start at the beginning, a few of us met at Papa's and were delighted to welcome a new member to the GG Lambeth community - Boutie soyez le bienvenue - it's great to have you with us!
Fi, Will & Yianny welcomed Boutie and then as a group we set off to Thorlands to meet up with Tilly, Marie-Noelle and Paul.
So far so good - the crew were all together and ready to roll but sadly our task leader Simon was nowhere to be seen. It looks as if a meeting had overrun and Simon got caught up which meant the group had no access to tools or idea of what we could help with but when life gives you lemons..... We do a stretch and chat session! (Thanks Paul for kicking us off)
At 7:45pm we called it an evening and after sorting the Bake Off sweepstake headed off in our respective directions.
Thanks to all for attending anyway and see you next time ;0)!

Last night we had a perfect two for one task and Group Run for the Lambeth Group - first Task Force hero Jo was leading a mission to help out at TRAID in Brixton to put out the new sale stock, followed by a run up to the allotments to help out Jean and Annick.
Michael, AA Yianny and Fi met Jo at TRAID and helped out till the task was (v. quickly) finished and were ready to set off however one of our group hadn't seen the message to meet there so we popped back to Papa's on a search and collect mission.
Will was however many steps ahead and had figured out that he should head straight to the task location, a tactic also employed by Paul, Marie-Noelle and Lindy (great to have you back with us Lindy!).
We were accompanied by a stunning deep red sunset as we ran up Brixton Hill and across to the task to meet everyone however that also meant fading light so we didn't have long on arrival. Luckily with a few people arriving from 7pm we got plenty of work done including moving timber and perspex, weeding, putting green and waste in the skip and lifting the paving stones so Annick could weed underneath.
We did uncover a red ant nest / colony under the stones and one particularly angry resident decided to take a couple of bites out of AA's ankle (I can report no lasting damage so don't worry all ;0) but other than that all went smoothly and conversation revolved around the beauty of the night sky when you can actually see it - pro tip leave London!
Big thanks to all and see you next time!

We were treated to a full on winter's evening by the weather yesterday with winds, rain and grey and dark skies - perfect for a bit of GG outdoor work then!
After a few people were delayed at work it meant that Michael, Will and AA Yianny met at Papa's while our resident walkers Marie-Noelle and Paul would meet us at the task.
Simon had a shopping list of tasks that we could undertake and his plans sound amazing - the place is going to be a real hub for locals to come and enjoy - but we settled on a classic task... weeding!
We had to continue the great work done by our Southwark GG friends and clear as much of the areas on either side of the paths of bindweed, nettles and other invasive species. There were also some chunky railway sleepers to shift and then dispose of it all at the end.
By session's end we had been nicely watered, prickled and plenty of soil gathered in our shoes and were in high spirits for it!
We will now make this a regular Group Run to support the GoodGym community on the border between Lambeth and Southwark so look out for sessions coming up in Oct, Nove and Dec.
Thanks to all and more photos will be dropping soon!

Last night's session was back with our friends Jean and Annick of Windmill Gardens fame.
First up though we were delighted to welcome back John who had been away from all things GG for a short time (just the 5 years then) but was once again back with us - welcome back John!
A nice easy run up Brixton Hill for Michael, AA Yianny and John where we were met by the Windmill Gardens team and our intrepid walkers - Marie-Noelle and Paul who were already hard at work chopping back the growth along the back fence.
The remaining team were put to work on the wheat patch pulling out the rather unsuccessful harvest from this year and getting it ready and turned over to receive the next crop. We were lucky to be surrounded by wafting scents of mint throughout making it a lovely evening of helping out.
Check out the before and after pics - plenty of work got done, plenty of getting fit and doing good as well.
Thanks to all and I look forward to seeing you next time!

With AA Yianny away this week our fantastic Run Leader Joao was in charge of taking the group over to visit Holy Trinity!
Joao was being met by Jo on the way and Marie-Noelle and Paul at the task while Nicole and her team and James (aka Father Nature) were also there.
Check out the pictures taken by Jo and a big thank you to all, see you next week!

After a showery afternoon the weather broke just in time for our evening session helping out Jean and Annick from Brixton Windmill.
First arrival was Shiv who is a brand new GGer (great to have you join us Shiv!) closely followed by Becky who was sneaking in her 2nd session before heading away on hols. Michael was next and so completed the running group and of course being a famous GGer he was ideally placed to talk Shiv through all things GoodGym as we made our way to the Brixton Allotments.
On arrival we met with Annick and Jean who took us through the tasks for the evening and it was a big one with plenty of heavy lifting and shifting various items into the skip. We were also met by Marie-Noelle and Paul our resident walkers and ANOTHER new member of Lambeth community Kymm who also made her way directly to the task - welcome Kymm!
We had a shopping list of tasks including dumping green waste, shovelling and bagging woodchip, barrowing, throwing out heavy boards, pulling up multiple entangled carpets (!) and general tidy up. We also uncovered a toad's nest with 4 lovely specimens a bit surprised when their shelter disappeared but we were very careful to ensure they were all safe and well!
The team worked really hard and stayed a little longer than normal to get to a point we were happy with which shows the spirit of the group so huge thank you to all!
See you next time :0)
