GoodGym Lambeth Group Run Report: The Tree-quel! 🌲

The Return of the Pines

Last week was so pine that we decided to spruce up our schedule and do it all over again! Welcome to our second group session of 2026, and honestly this is one of our absolute favourite missions of the year.

Weather Report: Stormy with a Chance of Dedication ⛈️

Mother Nature clearly wanted to separate the saplings from the mighty oaks, serving up some properly dark and stormy weather. Our turnout was trimmed down to the hardcore trio of tree-rescuing legends: Tilly, Ben & AA Yianny 🤗

These three weren’t going to let a little wind and rain leaf them at home!

Mission: Operation Needle Drop 🎄

We raced around Clapham on our Christmas tree treasure hunt, seeking out the poor abandoned pines who’d been cast out post-festivities. Seems like some people really struggle with the grief of de-tree-ment - we found MORE trees piled up than last week! 😊

Clearly the “New Year, New Me” crowd forgot that applies to their living rooms too.

The Haul 💪🏼

By the end of our festive cardio session, we’d successfully relocated:

• 5 Christmas trees (may they rest in compost)
• A pile of mystery logs (seriously, who leaves logs on Clapham streets? We may never know, but we yew-nited them with the recycling spot anyway!)

All trees and timber are now safely on their way to be composted by the council. From tinsel to topsoil - the circle of life continues! 🌲♻️

GoodGym Lambeth Run Report 🏃‍♀️💪

This week we were off to Holy Trinity Church to help Nicole with our final festive fix-up of the year - and boy, did we move things along! 🎄

The Mission: Operation Party Prep 🎉

Our task? A classic case of shift-and-shuffle as we helped clear space under HT for this weekend's celebrations. We moved items into storage faster than you can say "Good-Gym-nastics!" 💪🏼

With boxes relocated and clutter conquered, the space was transformed from storage chaos to party paradise. Talk about a moving experience! 📦✨

But Wait, There's More! 🏃‍♂️💨

Now for the really important bit - we had somewhere to be, and fast! Our end of year social and quiz was calling, and we weren't about to miss out on our chance to show off our big brains alongside those big biceps. 🧠💪

Quiz Night Spectacular! 🎊🍾

Our lovely group gathered for an epic battle of the minds (and puns) featuring: - 5 quiz rounds mixing GoodGym trivia with general knowledge 🤓 - A mystery challenge round that had everyone scratching their heads - Plenty of not-so-serious shenanigans and creative chaos 😂

In the end, it was the Big Ballerz who took home the glory! 🏆 But as the old game show wisdom goes: "Everyone was a Winner!" (Especially when there's good company, great laughs, and possibly some festive treats involved) 😊

Mission: Operation Windrush Sweep! 🧹✨

This week our legendary crew tackled the rubbish problem at Windrush Square (see what we did there? 😏). Armed with trowels, dustpans, black bags, and one trusty broom, we went full CSI: Litter Squad to give the square the deep clean it deserved!

The Highlight Reel: 🌟

🎉 The Return of the Legend! After a 5-year hiatus (we're not saying he was having a long nap), Harry made his triumphant comeback! We were so excited we almost threw confetti... but then remembered we'd just have to pick it up again. Welcome back, Harry! 🍻

🦸‍♀️ Our Core Crew of Champions: Fi, Dan, Tilly, and Michael (aka the Treat Master 🧁) showed up ready to sweep the competition. You absolute legends knocked it out of the park (and the litter out of the grass)!

We popped bottle tops, nabbed broken glass with military precision, and generally showed that litter who's boss. Tom from Lambeth Council sends his thanks – the square is looking rubbish-free and gorgeous!

This week's mission: Litter Pick Bingo and Plastic Patrol! 💪🏼

TRASH TALK 🗑️ Our lovely crew proved that one person's trash is another person's...well, recycling! We gave an old favorite a new twist and honestly, it was RUBBISH (in the best way possible)!

Armed with bags and the Plastic Patrol app, our heroes combed the local area like environmental detectives, picking up every piece of recyclable waste we could find. We bagged it, logged it, and made sure it all ended up in the right bin. Because sorting is our cardio! 📱♻️

PICK OF THE BUNCH 🌟 Huge shoutout to our usual cast of legends: Fi, Katie, Ben, and Tilly - you absolute trash pandas! 🦝 We love you guys! Your dedication to keeping Lambeth clean while getting fit is truly un-RUBBISH-able! 🤗

THE AFTERMATH 🍻 As if picking up litter wasn't rewarding enough, tonight was a RUNNER MANDATED SOCIAL (the best kind of mandate, let's be honest). The whole crew headed to the pub afterwards to raise a glass to our success. Cheers to making the world a better place, one pint and one piece of plastic at a time! 🍻
