Rake It Till You Make It ๐Ÿ

Lambeth Report written by Yianny (he / him)

GoodGym Lambeth | Run Report ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ’š Leaf It To Us!

Well, well, well โ€” our magnificent mob of do-gooding runners were out in full force this week, descending on the streets of Lambeth like a very fit, very enthusiastic swarm of locusts. (Sorry Dan, we know, we know โ€” new start point, new us. Change is growth! ๐ŸŒฑ)

The vibes? Immaculate. The chat? Absolutely flowing. The pace? Fast enough to feel smug, slow enough to finish a sentence. ๐Ÿ’ฌโœจ

The Task ๐Ÿ‚ This week we headed over to The Lunch Club Streatham at their Woodlawns site, where nature had โ€” shall we say โ€” gone a bit feral. Leaves, twigs, fallen branches: the full autumnal chaos package. Our mission was to wrestle the outdoor space into shape ahead of an exciting planting project and lunch service when the warmer weather finally stops being so shy. โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿคž

And wrestle we did. No leaf was left unturned (literally), no branch left unstowed. By the end, we had: ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ 10+ bulging bin bags filled and destined for composting ๐Ÿšฎ Litter picked to within an inch of its life ๐Ÿชต Branches stashed ready for a future task โ€” because the fun never stops! The outdoor space is looking twig-mendously better. Weโ€™re not saying weโ€™re heroes, butโ€ฆ the evidence speaks for itself. ๐Ÿฆธ

The Shoutouts ๐ŸŽ‰ ๐ŸŽ‚ Ben โ€” massive birthday shoutout incoming! The big day is TOMORROW, which means tonightโ€™s run was basically his pre-birthday workout. Iconic behaviour. Many happy returns, Ben!

๐Ÿšด Adam โ€” joined us for his very first GoodGym run! Usually found terrorising the streets on two wheels, tonight he used his actual legs like the rest of us. Welcome to the fold, Adam โ€” weโ€™ve got a feeling the bike might get a bit jealous. ๐Ÿ˜„

๐Ÿ’ฏ Michael โ€” brace yourselvesโ€ฆ Michael has just hit 100 months of GoodGym. ONE HUNDRED. Thatโ€™s over 8 years of showing up, doing good, and being generally wonderful. We are not worthy. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿคฉ

See you all next week โ€” same do-gooders, different start point (sorry again Dan ๐Ÿ‘€).โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹

Berry Fast - The Great Gooseberry Relocation โณ๐Ÿšœ๐Ÿ‡

Lambeth Report written by Yianny (he / him)

On a mild Lambeth evening, our GoodGym superstars turned up in gooseberry great numbers for a task that was truly berry satisfying. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐Ÿพ๐ŸŒฟ

Our mission: dig out several gooseberry bushes and relocate them (via barrows!) to the orchard garden behind the church. And honestly? It was completed in no time โ€” proving once again that many hands make light workโ€ฆ and strong legs make lightly complaining work. ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿšœ

Now, we canโ€™t confirm there was extra speed in the airโ€ฆ but we may have been powered by the knowledge that an end-of-month social was waiting for us. Motivation? โœ… Relocation? โœ… Social-ocation? Also โœ… ๐Ÿค—

Huge thanks to Adam and Nicole, our absolute legends of the evening, who hosted us and did not disappoint: food, drink, and board games aplenty! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿป๐ŸŽฒ (Let it be known: we came to transplant bushes, but we stayed to transplant ourselves into competitive board-game personalities.)

A wonderful time was had by all โ€” and yes, we definitely got to know each other a LOT better too ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‚. By the end of the night, weโ€™d also uncovered the true solution to modern lifeโ€™s troubles: a cucumber suit, tequila, salami t-shirts, and a very active โ€˜social lifeโ€™. ๐Ÿฅ’๐Ÿ‘”๐Ÿน๐Ÿฅ“๐Ÿ˜„

So, to summarise: we moved bushes, moved barrows, and moved straight into chaos (the fun kind). Until next time, Lambeth โ€” stay berry brilliant! ๐Ÿ‡โœจ๐Ÿ’š

Pre-pearing for a chard goodbye

Wandsworth Report written by Sophie Humphrey

It definitely felt like a warmer Monday night in Wandsworth which was much appreciated. We marked the end of the Winter Olympics by discussing the events that we would love to magically become good at with some brave souls going for everything from skiing moguls to big air! Figure skating was another big hit but curling (a much safer choice you would think) sadly didnโ€™t feature.

We were off to salvage what we could from the Goodgym garden to share with the wider Wandsworth community. A lot of effort went into digging up our prized trees and we got them out and ready for a new home (huge thanks to Jordan and his chariot with glamorous assistant Felix!). It was great to see how resourceful we can be as a group with people finding makeshift plant pots en route (well done Catherine) and repurposing compost bags to transport our beloved plants! We managed to harvest a few potatoes, gather some chard and also took some of our rosemary.

We finished up with a fitness session spelling out Clapham with different exercises (with a little sprinkle of creativity on the As - future exercise suggestions very welcome there!). A fond farewell to our little garden with a lot of love put in over the years - well done all for what we achieved there! Bonus spot was a huge furry cat who didn't want to miss out on saying goodbye. Look forward to giving our plants and tools a new home soon!

Railing Against the Machine - No Rain No Gain !!

Lambeth Report written by Yianny (he / him)

GoodGym Lambeth Run Report: Operation Soggy Spruce-Up! ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช

What a turnout! Despite Mother Natureโ€™s best efforts to rain on our parade (literally), our incredible crew showed up in drench-force! ๐ŸŒŠ Everyone arrived looking like theyโ€™d already done a charity swim, but that didnโ€™t dampen our spirits one bit!

*The Mission: Time to give our beloved base at Papaโ€™s Park some serious TLC. *

We weeded out the competition (literally - those pesky plants didnโ€™t stand a chance!), gave the place a good litter pick, and showed those railings what elbow grease really means. Theyโ€™re now so clean you could eat your dinner off themโ€ฆ though we donโ€™t recommend it! ๐Ÿฝ๏ธโœจ

The Result: Those railings are absolutely railing it now - shinier than a new penny and gleaming with pride! โค๏ธ Papaโ€™s Park is looking park-ticularly magnificent thanks to our green-thumbed heroes.

The Vibes: Despite being absolutely soaked to the bone, the chat was flowing faster than the rainwater, and the energy was absolutely TOP TIER! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐Ÿพ Nothing says team bonding quite like squelching around together in soggy trainers, am I right?

Proof that GoodGym Lambeth doesnโ€™t let a little (okay, a LOT of) rain stop us from making our community bloom! ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒŸโ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹
