6 GoodGymers met 4 Colchester in Bloomers on a sunny Tuesday evening to prepare the planters along the high street for their summer bedding.
The task seemed simple to start with... primulas and pansy in a bag for replanting elsewhere, curry plants retained in planters, pretty greeny pink plant to be dug up but kept, weeds and dead ivy dug out and chucked....between us I think we understood most of the instructions, and then it turned out Haithm had gardening expertise which he put to good use!
The real challenge of the evening was removing the dead ivy from the top layer without damaging the planters or the special fabric in the bottom which distributed the water....with hefty roots in rock hard soil Ray, Haithm and Jack got their workouts completed for the evening!
Looking forward to seeing the plants that go in tomorrow next time I'm in town.

6 of us met at the FoodBank and straight away got to work cleaning. We swept and mopped the large warehouse area, thanks to Jack finding a hidden mop and Nathan figuring out how the fancy one worked... The carpeted area was all vacuumed and surfaces cleaned.
It was great to meet Haidee and Jack for the first time and to catch up with Ray, Sheila and Nathan.
We left the FoodBank significantly cleaner than when we arrived, meaning their own staff and volunteers can focus on serving those is need in Colchester.

Nathan earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Nathan completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Nathan was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

4 GoodGymers met at the FoodBank and after a brief chat set to work cleaning it up. It was great to meet Sheila who left the carpeted area looking much cleaner and Nathan who made short work of the sweeping alongside Ray. Within an hour the whole massive warehouse had been swept and mopped and surfaces around the front of house area wiped down.
We will be back at the FoodBank on the first Tuesday of May so join us if you can!
