8 Westminster GoodGymers ran 7k to make sandwiches for One Big Family Homeless Charity.
Great to have you all along for a massively important task!!
With the nights drawing in earlier the strain on the charities who support the nations homeless population increases and no where is it more evident than in Westminster!!
One Big Family- Victoria are a tiny charity who provide food twice a week to Victoria’s homeless community with its main day being a Wednesday night.
We make such difference by essentially taking care of one week a month of the food preparation to allow the other volunteers to concentrate their efforts on the other 3.
A touristy Run South down to the Ebury Estate states off our evening raking up a solid 3.5k run along the way.
Meeting up a couple of the organisers we set about our task with speed and no less circular cutting precision!!
Bagging 80 pastries while wearing rubber gloves is no easy feat not to mention buttering 7 loads of bread, pate spreading and cheese arranging!!
A slick production line made light work of the task and in 30 efficient minutes we had completed the task!!
The trolley was locked and food loaded for a evening of distribution!!
A sharpe run back to base rounded off a very enjoyable evening!!
Look forward to next week for some more fun on the run!!

8 Westminster GoodGymers ran 7km or 11km to help both Open age and the Oasis community garden.
With a last minute SOS call from the Oasis community garden we had a little added efforts needed for tonight’s Group running endeavours!!
Splitting the group in 2 some powerful running was needed from make the session work! The splinter group weaved their way East to the Oasis Community Garden to drop some emergency watering to the garden as another volunteering group was unable to do their session this month. Quick a flash Anil, Frances and Chi dashed over there, watered like they were in A fire and rescue squad did a little tidying and stormed West to meet the rest of the squad.
A longer than normal run took us all the way out to Paddington where we were helping Open Age charity promote there courses this month primarily the course for people with English as a second language and are typically difficult to reach.
Running a strong 3.5k out to the Hallfield Estate we split into pairs and tackled some big tower blocks delivering at a very impressive rate!!
In no time we had completed 5 blocks and were then joined by the double agents to tackle a couple of 10 floor blocks! Plenty of stairs were climes and 500 leaflets delivered in perfect timing!!
Heading back with a bounce in our steps we picked up the pace going through Hyde park and finishing with a speedy weave along Oxford Street!!
Big shout out to Chi who with this group run completed a very special GoodGym feat!! A Group Run in every London GoodGym area!! huge dedication and congratulations!!
See you next week for a trip to One Big Family to make food for the homeless!!

14 GoodGymers ran 6k to St Andrews Youth Club for a little spring clean and dominated an exercise filled session!!
Amazing to have you along for a great fitness filled evening in the heart of London Town!!
With a smaller than normal task this evening it gave us a chance to push the fitness a fair bit more than our usual Wednesday Session.
We set off guided by Rhys down to Green Park where we logged times for the GoodGym Olympics 1k Time trial by zipping around a speedy 1k Loop!! Although a few fancied making it into a 1m Time trial by missing the last turn a great effort was on show and done speedy 1k times laid down!!
If you recorded the time trial on Strava tag it in the description with #GGOlympics2018 check out the categories and Strava settings info here.
With speed training ticked off we took a gentle run over to St Andrews youth Club in St James’s where we hit a 20 minute body weight circuit in a dominating, upper body, lower body and core conditioning get a strong sweat on!!
The task was almost a cool down with the A/C on full blast in the gym we spayed, wiped and tidied in 15 cleansing minutes before we had a great of hearing the ** Oldest Youth Club in the World’s** history from John the General Manager as well as the current work and activities done to help everyone from 5-92 in Westminster.
We said our goodbyes for the summer and ran the 2k back to base with a very energetic session complete.
Hope to see you again next week!!
If anyone fancies coming along for the GoodGym Olympics on Saturday afternoon here is all the information.
