A stonking 9 GoodGymers turned up for what I think was one of our most unusual litter picks yet. At least in terms of finds!
It was great to see so many people ๐ Special shoutouts to Chris for completing his very first GoodGym task, to Soliane who'd just got back in from a run round the corner and popped over to join us with about 3 minutes' notice, and to Nigel for completing his 15th task.
After pairing up, we spread out across the park and filled a wholly satisfying heap of bags with litter. And not just bottlecaps, crisp packets and cigarette butts. Not by a long shot. "Weirdest Item Wins" doesn't always get that weird, but the litter louts of St Mary's Rest Garden gave us so much, I have no idea who to award the honour to. What do you think?

Not one, not two, but three parks were plogged by seven Nottingham Goodgymers. Rachel L, Rachel W, Soliane, Hamish, Alison, Janine and Peter were suitably armed with hi-viz and litter pickers and were soon filling our purple bin bags making these three publics spaces that little bit nicer. That nice in fact that we saw a hula hoop workshop taking place in park number one - next time Goodgymers, next time!

Soliane earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Soliane completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Soliane was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Soliane has done their first good deed with GoodGym.
Soliane is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.

Nottingham's third session saw a fab 14 of us head to The Meadows Foodbank based at Bridgeway Hall Methodist Centre.
Abigail lead a jog around the area for some of the group who arrived early, supported by Peter, while the rest of us ran, cycled and walked there independently.
On arrival, we were greeted by Mark from the foodbank who gave us an insight into how it operates and the important role it plays in the local community. We then divided up into smaller teams to tackle various tasks that needed doing - scrubbing some metal shelves, moving crates of food from upstairs to the main store downstairs, packing bags of food and moving some freezers and other furniture around the building.
It felt like we managed to get a lot done in an hour and we all felt like weโd had a good workout! We hope to revisit The Meadows Foodbank again in future when they need our help again.
We welcomed several first timers to this session and we look forward to seeing everyone again as GoodGym Nottingham continues to grow.
