Before we started, the St Chad's Pathfinder scouts had already built wooden frames to make raised beds. They did this in the dark with headtorches apparently - clearly GoodGymers in the making! Unlike a typical GoodGym effort, they had done a really neat and professional job so we just needed to get them filled!
Mitch and Christine got to work adding an extra storey to one of the beds (it wasn't tall enough for Mitch apparently) whilst the rest of us started turning over the grass at the bottom of the beds and shifting soil to go in them. The topsoil was in big tonne bags at the entrance to the scout hut so we had to cart it uphill along the lane to the scout hut and then across the grass. Happily, once we had taken a bit of the weight out the bags, we could drag them along en masse, which made things much quicker.
To Christine's amazement we were done in forty five minutes so some of us headed off to The Winning Post for well earned refreshments.

You know it's winter when we're back at Glen Gardens for some leaf clearing
