Goodgym Southwark headed over to Kelly Avenue Park. When we arrived we filling the trenches that had been dug the previous month, with the mulch and soil, which that had been delivered by the council, to form the hugelkulture.
As we moved the mulch and soil quicker than expected, using a repurposed bin and the might of Goodgymers carrying the big bags, we then proceeded to water the planted hedgerow, weed around the smaller trees and litter pick across the park.
We work in partnership with Southwark Council in the maintenance and positive development of the park. Our focus this year is in establishing the garden area as an interactive space for growing food and other plants, and hosting educational workshops with local schoolchildren.
