We spent a lovely Saturday morning today back at Beeston Primary School sorting out their outdoor area. We did the same last spring but it was very overgrown again after winter. We weeded & cleared up & after only an hour it looked loads better. Hopefully the children can get back out there now. A toad took me by surprise near the pond...I'm unsure who leaped further, me or it!

Ten of us headed to Meanwood Farm, braving the biblical storm and arriving drenched to the skin. Looking at the day old lambs revived us somewhat and Jen quickly put us to work on various tasks. We spent an hour potting up chilli seedlings, barrowing compost to the polytunnels, and digging it into neat rows ready for planting. The weather turned more spring-like and the lighter evening allowed us to see how the compost bins we have been turning all winter have produced excellent wormy compost. Jen rewarded us with lettuce and we ran back to HEART with our arms full of our bounty. True spirit of landworkers!

What a great night!
On a beautiful sunny, spring day, with everyone in great spirits, we all ran to Beckhill Community Garden (without getting lost) & met Lynn for the first time this year.
It was woodchip Wednesday, so half the group got to work moving piles of woodchip...Christian found a method that worked by tossing it over his shoulder! The other half weeded around the beds.
The garden is about to show at a flower show in Harrogate....this little garden has completely transformed under Lynn's leadership...Well done!!

It was boys vs girls tonight as we split into two groups to leaflet to OWLS service users around Headingley & Burley.
The girls did just under 7K & were happy to bump into the boys group just as they were finishing. We dragged them around to finish with us (I bet they wish they hadn't seen us)!!! Thanks to Christian & Adam who took the last ones to finish off on their way home.
It was so nice to do a task in the light tonight....Hello Spring!!
It was also good to welcome back Fay & Katie.
Great work team!

Tonight, the gang met Nilesh from Headingley Neighbourhood Watch to do some more graffiti clearing on North Lane.
We used paint remover on some of it, scraped flyers off bins & painted the telephone boxes & bins.
Lydia, Rachael & I painted a bin that had graffiti all over it but we were slightly worried as the green paint was slightly brighter than the old paint & it then didn't match the other bins in the area...oh well, we think it looked good, even if no one else does!!!
Kat did her 100th good deed tonight! What a great achievement, thanks for all you do for GoodGym Kat & well done.

Saturday was super Helen's 250th good deed for GoodGym Leeds!!!
Our group just wouldn't be the same without her. She's not only a super runner, she supports the whole team, plans amazing runs, leads sessions & deputises for me. Thanks for all you do :)
We headed to Bedford Fields to help set up for their mini spring fair. We then took part in Fruitworks tree grafting workshop & we all left with 2 grafted apple trees. I took one Katy & one Bramley variety. We were taught 2 techniques in the beautiful spring sunshine. It was a great afternoon, thanks Beth!
