So how do you make sloe gin? Val offered us a quick lesson in making these sour fruits into a delicious drink...just add gin. Who knew! We spent the evening at Bedford Fields working alongside Val doing some serious weeding, pruning, and stripping the strings of bindweed to make strings of fibre for weaving into something or other...basically if you drink enough sloe gin you can do anything! Welcome to Ian on his first task with us, hope to see you again soon.

Another great evening spent at Beckhill Community Garden tonight.
We ran from Heart to meet Lyn for litter picking, laying cardboard & spreading lots of wood chip over a large area. We finished off with a bit of weeding.
Happy belated birthday to Lyn!
Tonight we said goodbye to Elspeth who's moving to Nottingham, good luck & we'll miss you!
Welcome to Dan who joined us for the first time in years tonight .

On Sunday, 6 GoodGymers headed to the 7 mile Meanwood Valley Trail race. Helen, Rachel, Eno & Chloe raced and Jason & Elspeth marshalled for their other running club. It was a tricky course so there were a few tumbles but well done for doing it guys!

Today, I headed up to OWLS allotments to weed the back bed. It was covered in nettles so I was stung A LOT but it looked loads better by the time I left :)

Tonight we named 3 pigs...Laura, Helen & Jason, the girl pig with an identity crisis. They're the new resident pigs at Meanwood Valley Farm & we hoped naming them may prolong their lives.. here's hoping!
We had a good run and then had 3 jobs, weeding the beds for winter vegetables, turning compost (we now have professional status with this task) & bringing woodchip down to cover new compost.
Fun & games were had involving wheelbarrows & Jubz...I say no more...
Thanks for a great evening all!

Christian was in his element tonight, he was climbing and sawing trees and playing football with local kids.
The group headed up to Beckhill Community Garden to trim the Ivy from the tree, tidy up the weeping willow & we then put the cuttings onto the dead hedge we made a few weeks ago.
The rest of the gang weeded and trimmed tomatoes. We were then sent home with some Chicken wood mushrooms, runner beans, yellow cucumbers & courgettes. Thanks Lyn!
Helen took the group on a magical mystery tour on the way back!
We said goodbye to Katie who's going travelling for 3 months. Have fun Katie and see you at Christmas!
