Last night’s mission to Bassuah Legacy Foundation was stitched together beautifully — and honestly? We absolutely nailed it.

We kicked things off at Shepherd’s Bush station with our usual pre-task buzz. Huge shoutout to Ali on their very first GoodGym session! You didn’t just show up — you showed out. And welcome to your first Group Run Jasmine and Jalal. First time experiencing the magic that is controlled chaos in a charity shop… and you handled it like pros. Consider yourselves officially initiated.

Once inside, we got straight to work supporting Bassuah’s incredible mission of uplifting and empowering single families in need. Our task? Bring order to the kingdom of donations. And oh, did we deliver.

• Tops were tamed

• Hats were herded

• Scarves were sorted

• Bedding was beautifully bundled

We worked like a dream team — coordinated, considerate, and efficient — even while honouring Tina’s (very firm!) request that we not move things around too much. Did that stop us from being effective? Absolutely not. We organised with precision. We shuffled strategically. We maximised impact within our “minimal movement” brief.

And because we can’t help ourselves, we’ve already started brainstorming ways to transform the basement storage into additional selling space. More rails, clearer layout, better flow — imagine the fundraising potential! Watch this space… we’ve got plans.

Last night's meet-up was a blast! Just me and Chau, taking over the Bassuah Legacy Foundation charity shop 💪🏽👟

We were greeted with a warm hug from Tina, the lovely owner. We got straight to work, dividing and conquering like pros 🤑!

I took on the upstairs challenge, swapping out old stock for fresh faces 👕👗, while Chau tackled the downstairs store area like a boss 👑. She sorted bags of clothes into neat boxes, separating brands from non-brands like a pro 🕵️‍♀️.

The verdict? The shop is looking sorted 🤩!

🎊 Our evening started with a cheerful meet-up before we set off together — some of us running, others walking — to reach the shop, getting those steps (and smiles) in along the way 🏃‍♀️🚶‍♂️. It was the perfect way to warm up before an evening of treasure hunting and teamwork!

When we arrived, we were greeted by the lovely Dr. Christina, who gave us a VIP behind-the-scenes tour of the shop and its hidden basement full of wonders. Bag after bag, shoe after shoe, and shelf after shelf of books 🤯 — it felt like discovering a secret world beneath the high street! Dr. Christina’s passion for the project was contagious, and we were all excited to dive straight in.

Chau took charge of the shoe department 👠, turning chaos into order with some creative flair, while Caroline and I rolled up our sleeves to sort and hang clothing ready for the shop floor 👗. Caroline even discovered a glamorous toy chimpanzee friend sporting bright lipstick 💄🐵 — definitely the style icon of the night! Dr. Christina showed us how to assess donations and prepare items for recycling, giving us a peek into the sustainability side of charity retail ♻️.

After our hard work, we ran and walked back together under the evening sky — a lovely way to round off a feel-good session full of laughter, teamwork, and a sense of purpose 💖. The Bassuah Legacy shop truly is a labour of love, and we’re proud to have played a small part in keeping its legacy shining bright. There’s still plenty more to do, and we can’t wait to return! 💪✨
