Tonight, 7 GoodGymer's ran or cycled 3km to Bowthorpe Community Garden.
When we arrived we were given a list of tasks and a set of tools to use, along with some yummy refreshments on offer!
Everyone chose their role, and in one hour we had trimmed back the length of the hedge, cut down the hollyhocks and dead-headed the roses. We also weeded and hoed the raised bed, and cleaned and scraped the brickwork flooring.
Kudos to Myfanwy on her first Good Deed!
The sun set on a lovely evenings work, as we all headed back home.

We had our first visit or the year to Bowthorpe Community Gardens, and what a lovely place it is.
For once the weather was kind to us, dare I say it actually felt a little like summer!
We completed an array are tasks to help the gardens look spruce.

Today 2 GoodGymer's ran 4km to Bowthorpe Community Garden.
Once again we were welcomed by Sally and Adrian who offered us bananas, water and paintbrushes!
Today's task was to paint a fence beside the compost heap, and a wooden planter full of rhubarb with a rose coloured paint.
New member Rose tackled the planter while I got to work on the fence. In only 45 minutes both tasks were completed with a new coat of paint. Check out the before and after photos!
We look forward to returning again to this beautiful spot.

We walked to the task this week as I had a bit of a knee niggle.
It was quite fresh but it stayed dry.
There were a few tasks for us to do - plant some tomato trees, cut back the overgrown footpath and dig up a rose bush.
The latter was a rather hard task but after much graft and several pairs of hands helping, we managed to get it up.
Niall and Nicole planted the tomato trees while Elizabeth and Mark cleared the footpath.

We were visiting Bowthorpe Community Garden for the first time this year.
It was lovely to be back at such a tranquil location.
Elizabeth and Ian painted a fence. Michelle and Niall were relocating some compost, until they disturbed a bee's next, which put a halt to that task. They were then joined by Jen and those 3 went on to do some weeding tasks.

Our first Group Run since March 2020!!!
Oh my it was nice to have that take place again.
Myself, Elizabeth, Stephen and Mark met at Colney Lane Pavilion before setting off to Bowthorpe Community Gardens. It was a tad warm so we decided to walk most of it.
On arrival, a couple of the lovely volunteers greeted us with fruit before talking us through the tasks. Stephen and Mark were trimming back overgrown thistles and poppies, while Elizabeth and I were trimming back the overgrown paths. A couple of passing local residents commented on how much of a good job we were doing, which is lovely to receive gratitude for.
On our way back, we went via Bowthorpe Meadows, which was glorious.
