CleanGreenE15

CleanGreenE15 is a community gardening and planting project that seeks to improve and green our neighbourhood and improve the high street.
We have a number of large beds which are planted with edible and flowering plants to bring biodiversity and improve the appearance of our high street, as well as to decrease and deter flytipping.

10 GoodGymers have supported CleanGreenE15 with 2 tasks.

Knot so ropey in the end

Saturday 7th February

Written by Rosa

Today GoodGym Newham were back at CleanGreen E15 - an area in Maryland that the local community are working hard to brighten up and add planting to discourage fly tipping.

After our first mission in January, clearing old soil and weeds from two of the planters and adding new compost, today we planted two cherry trees in there along several spring bulbs. We had to experiment a bit with the tent rope style system, designed to protect the new trees from strong winds, but got the hang of it in the end and even added them to a couple of the existing trees!

Thanks to everyone who came along today, shout out to Ash and Rob for their first ever GoodGym mission, hope to see you both back soon!

We’ll be back at CleanGreen in mid-March, so look out for the next listing 💪🌳

Don’t throw in the trowel

Saturday 10th January

Written by Rosa

It might have been a real feel of -7 degrees, but that didn't put off six brave GoodGym-ers who started the year off right by assembling to tackle some planters near Maryland that needed a refresh. The local community has been working hard to brighten up an area around Henniker Point, tackling flytipping and littering by setting up some planters and growing trees, flowers and even edible plants.

Saturday's mission was to remove old soil, weeds and even a dead tree from two of the planters, and add fresh soil in ready for spring planting. Thanks to a great effort by all we quickly tidied them up, ready for us to come back for planting in a few weeks! Shout out to Nick and Sooz for a great effort on a very stubborn tree, and great to see Sher join us for his first mission too - look forward to welcoming you back again soon!
