Feeding Coventry is a small charity with big ambition: To create a food resilience city in Coventry where nobody goes hungry.
We are committed to working with partners and local communities to tackle the root causes of hunger, build food security, provide low cost food to vulnerable groups and support people in crisis.
70 GoodGymers have supported Feeding Coventry with 131 tasks.

A valiant group of 11 Goodgymers assembled to assist Feeding Coventry this evening.
Karen was there to welcome us and we set to work to conquer lots of leaves and declutter cupboards.
Armed with rakes and brushes, Jackie, Laura, James and Lil battled the autumn leaves like knights in shining armour, clearing the path and piling the leaves in one area to decompose.
The rest of the possy headed indoors to tackle the cupboard conundrum. The cupboard was overflowing with a mixture of tat, toys and forgotten treasures (a very antique bingo caller) which we emptied, sorted and then started to put back.
The team did a grand job sweeping up the leaves and restoring order to the cupboards. Karen was extremely happy with the progress we had made and our efforts will make it a lot easier for them to finish off.
Well done everyone!

This week, 9 Goodgym members made their way over to Foleshill Social Supermarket to help them keep on top of their green space.
The pressure was on this week, as Lil rather foolishly promised sunshine for the session tonight! As people prepared for their session, grabbed their red tops and pondered how many layers to wear, the rain was still falling and skies certainly didn't look promising. Luckily, Coventry goodgym are a hardy bunch, and not put off by the British summer.
This week, we welcomed Dani to our group sessions. A big welcome to you, Dani, and we look forward to seeing you at future sessions.
After our welcomes and warm up, we set off on our run up the centre which is one of our longer distances and a few sneaky hills in the way. Everyone dug in, with Laura expertly back marking and everyone looping back to keep the group going and motivated. Perfect training for some of our members who have Coventry Half Marathon in the diary.
Once we arrived at the centre, we met up with Joe and Louise and got stuck into the task. Allan and Allan did some watering of the plants in the greenhouse, whilst everyone else tackled the weeds.
In just 35 minutes, we managed to fill 4 crates with pesky weeds, with just a couple of giant thistles left (we'll leave those for the bees!) Top work everyone! It was soon time to pack up with just time to take a photo by the recently painted mural.
Just as we left, the sun began to shine and we headed back down into the city centre and chatted all things goodgym.
Well done everyone!

7 Goodgymmers made their way to Foleshill Community Centre for some watering and weeding this eve. We welcomed back Georgia and Louise on their second good deed and we also welcomed Madeeha on her first session.
We were instructed by the task owner to water the allotment, water the plants in the poly tunnel and weed the car park. Everyone got stuck in, Laura started hosing the veg and herbs in the planters which are all filling out nicely with some of the fine weather we've been having. Katherine, Louise and James donned their gloves for those pesky weeds and Madeeha and Georgia filled up their watering cans for the poly tunnel.
Madeeha and Georgia made fast work of the tunnel and joined Laura on watering the allotment plants. The team all worked hard to get as much done in the time we had. We managed to water everything and although the weeders did a grand job there were a few too many for us to complete the task so that will have to be done another time.
To end the session Katherine suggested we ask for a little tour around the cafe and supermarket for the Goodgymers who hadn't visited the centre before. Spencer gave us a wee tour, we had a group photo, said our goodbyes to Louise and made our way back to base.
Well done everyone!

Fab turn out tonight with 9 GoodGymers running to the social supermarket. Great to be back to see all the progress they have made and hear about all the incredible work they are doing. Brilliant to meet James and Annie on their first good deed and loved having the main woman Liz back again - we miss you Liz!
Simon was there to greet us this evening and instruct us on what needed to be done. The task involved the tidying and organising of two rooms so we set straight to it at lightning speed. We split into 2 groups, group one concentrated on the back room (which seemed to have become the room of doom), this needed to be rearranged and cleared to make space for items that group two were sorting in another room.
The team in the back room moved furniture, boxes, ladders and cleaning products to make way for more items. The team in the other rooms were clearing items from cupboards into trollies which including a million plates, fans and tools and these were brought through the newly cleared room.
The operation went really smoothly, everyone worked together so well and we completed the task with time to spare! This is what happens when we have a big group, we get so much done in such a short space of time, it's amazing!
Well done guys! Excellent job!

**5 goodgymers ran 8km to Feeding Coventry to give their kitchen equipment a clean. **
It was a cold, foggy wintery evening, but that didn't put off our intrepid group of runners. After a quick warm up and briefing, we set off on a chatty, sociable run up to Foleshill Community Centre. Once we arrived, we were greeted by a member of staff who gave us a tour of some of their sparkling new facilities. We were wowed by the stunning new space and all the great activities now operating out of the centre. Tonight, our task was a washing up challenge. Since the big building works, lots of the equipment needed a thorough clean and there was a mountain of washing up to be tackled. We soon set about a system of washing and drying and got to work.
Before long, it was time to head back to base, but not before squeezing in one more good deed for the evening...picking up several sacks of potatoes for a local primary school class activity. Great cross training carrying the bags through the city centre.

3 GoodGymers went to Foleshill Community centre to help clean in preperation for painting next week. All the building and plastering work is complete which has left a thick layer of dust everywhere. We joined a group of volunteers to hoover, dust and sugar soap every surface to get it ready for Monday when the volunteers will start painting. Katherine and Laura arrived and started hoovering what will soon be the new cafe and when Lil arrived we went on to wipe down all the radiators, desks and other cabinets in the adjacent room. Was so nice to see so many people chipping in, there was a real community spirit.
We have been working with the Social Supermarket since the beginning and have a close connection with the charity, we are so happy to see this all coming together for them, exciting times ahead!
