The Goodgym Merton team arrived for tonight's group session at Morley Park to find a massive, freshly delivered mountain of wood chip that was wood-erfully timed for our visit!
We certainly didn't have a chip on our shoulders, quickly forming an efficient shovel-and-barrow convoy and shifting everything from the road to inside the park gate. A fantastic full-body workout!
Meanwhile, a couple of the team tackled a lighter task, snipping back invasive horsetails to keep the pathways looking tidy and protect the local flora.
What amazing teamwork as always - well done everyone!

I had the delightful opportunity to lend a hand to Friends of Morley Park. I had never been to Morley Park, so it was a joy to discover another green space in Merton. My jobs consisted of bagging up gravel in an area that is hopefully going to be able to be planted in soon, cutting back stinging nettles under benches (to avoid sore bottoms!) and plucking weeds from the grass. I hope to be back soon

For our first session helping the Friends of Morley Park we arrived ready to get our hands dirty and were tasked with digging up compacted soil, picking out hidden debris, and wrestling with a particularly stubborn invasive plant that had made itself a little too much at home.
While we only cleared a small section today we now know what is needed and will hopefully return with a larger group to help with more very soon
