Sunday 12th April

It was a last minute decision to stop by Martin Way Methodist Church this afternoon, and it turned into a full on workout dealing with a huge lot of oregano and other herbs!
The oregano needed serious digging and dividing, alongside chives, mint, and some hazelnut saplings. The real challenge was the potting-up phase; creating an assembly line to pot everything up before we ran out of compost. Sixty minutes soon became ninety, but we left the church team with a lovely collection of new potted plants, a much tidier bed, and plenty of potential for our next visit.

On the first group task of Spring we were blessed with a dry evening and a gardening task. Having cleared the area of litter, the team got stuck in to weeding, pruning and digging out the flower beds round Martin Way Methodist Church. Getting rid of some of the more persistent roots needed real effort and team support, but that is what we are so good at. So by the end of the evening, all the beds were cleared, the anti-weed netting was down and secured, and we could all be satisfied with a job well done.

We were once again delighted to help our good friends at the Open Table set up the community cafe and get ready for 30 plus diners. And for the third week in a row we were offered a bit of brekky. It was a tough job, but we got through it.

This morning the early birds hit a double effort to kickstart the day! A pre-office workout, helping to pack away the winter night shelter and then setting up the Open Table and all before 9am 💪.
It’s a rewarding transition, moving from the quiet wrap-up of the night's shelter to the bustling preparation of a welcoming community lunch. Whether it was hauling mattresses, moving chairs or shifting tables, everything was handled with ease, well done team.

The morning momentum continued as we helped set up for the Open Table. With the main tasks finished ahead of schedule, Jon took the opportunity to tackle window cleaning duty. The beautiful sunshine outside made the job much easier, and the hall was left gleaming and ready for guests.
