This week's Group Run (and cycle for Dani) took us to the 61 Football Club and we had Zoe back for a second time and even better, she brought Yiannis along for his first time. It's great to have you both getting involved!
On arrival at the club it was painting time, getting some blue on the walls in the main changing room and the referees changing room also got a lick of fresh white paint.
We took ten minutes at the end for a round of shuttle runs and random exercises from the fitness dice which turned out to be a decent selection of core-toning with a few squats too, a shuttle run to shake out in between each one.
Finally the return run back into town as darkness fell, reminding us that it will soon be time for headtorches again!

This week we welcomed Zoe to her first Goodgym session and delighted to have a newbie on board we warmed up and headed off to the 61 football club, a 2.5km jog away.
On the way we were treated to a clear view of the partial solar eclipse and enjoyed the cooling effect of the dimming light on an otherwise hot evening.
On arrival at the football club Richard directed us to the newly built pitch-side dugouts. We grabbed the bucket of paint and rollers and got stuck in, turning the grey blocks a nice brick red.
Working close together we had a good chat and got to know each other a bit and catch up with all the latest in our lives as we worked away on the painting. Time flew and before we knew it the walls were red, time was up and we had to wash up and hit the road again. There's one more dugout to go so we'll be back to finish the job!

This week's group run was in the middle of a week of stormy showers but fortunately for us, the last big shower of the day passed over just as we were meeting and then left us with a sunny evening to get to our task at the 61 football club a 2.5km run away.
The club was preparing for its 65th birthday celebrations at the weekend and we were pitching in to help get the ground looking smart for all the visitors due to attend the party.
We cut grass off the path, mopped inside and swept up the outside, leaving it all looking very well cared for, before heading back into town.

This week the team ran out to the 61 Football Club and helped with tidying up outside the clubhouse in preparation for the upcomng 65th anniversary of the club's founding.
On the way we were treated to a fantastic rainbow 🌈 so stopped for a quick rainbow selfie before carrying on with our run.
On arrival at the club we found Cliff and Richard waiting with tools ready to clear the weeds and sweep up around the outside of the building. With seven of us we managed to do a thorough job and head back into town with the last of the evening sunshine ☀️

After the wettest winter ever, the players and the changing rooms at 61 FC had clearly got a bit muddy so we were called in to give it a spring clean now the weather has brightened and the pitch is dryer.
We did a good paced 4km run out to the clubhouse, got set up with soapy water, scrubbers and mops and set to work bringing a fresher look and smell to the club!
Job done we had our traditional half-time orange squash and biscuits and finished the evening with the return 4km run into town.

We had a wonderful evening sprucing up the football club. We mopped, scrubbed, painted and washed everything until it was sparkling. Nearly everyone ran and Susannah did her first long distance brisk walk for a while. Thank you so much to Cliff for the chocolates and squash afterwards!
