Feeling glazy
Teriyaki means luster glaze in Japanese. Tuesday’s scramble was covered in it. We finally got to use the minecraft cake.
We served 42 meals and everyone enjoyed themselves.
Thank you to those who collected food, cooked, hosted and cleaned up.

Four Goodgymers made their way to the Level Trust Uniform Exchange to help sort through a mountain of recent donations.
We were greeted by Kim and Elaine from Level Trust and they explained what each piece of donated clothing should be checked for. Usable clothes were sorted into crates and unusable donations sorted into bags (one for clothes with logos, one for clothes without).
We got into a steady rhythm and quickly worked through tens of bags, with calls of ‘No go logo’ and ‘no go no logo’ as we went. Happily, lots of the donations were in good condition, so once they’re washed and dried they can be added to stock and hopefully used again.
Lots still to do, so we’ll be back!

The GoodGymers joined up with the team at Peoples Park for the monthly litter pick. Despite the warm weather (which usually means more litter) the overall haul wasn’t as much as expected!
However we did find some litter pick firsts during today’s task! A whole BBQ complete with utensils AND a full tray of meat 🤣, we also stumbled across a toy doll and a Halloween pumpkin outfit, all a bit creepy when put together.

Stormy weather prompted a change of task this week as we were scheduled to paint dugouts at the 61 Football Club, but instead we went for indoor painting as the refurbishment of the Brown Books community bookshop nears completion.
On arrival, we swept up after the carpenters and had a quick workout using paint cans and sharing physio exercise tips for building knee strength.
We had yellow and green paint to apply to different parts of the walls so we got the rollers going and began the transformation from stark white.
We didn't quite get it all finished but made a good dent in it, ready to finish off next time around!

6 Goodgymers from the Luton team supported Foodcycle this evening, covering lots of different tasks including, food collection, kitchen team, pot washer and hosts. Despite the food donations being very minimal this week, the team were able to provide a 3 course meal for 36 guests making the most of the limited veg, fruit and bread, with a few store cupboard staples. Carrot soup was followed by a vegetable pasta dish, with garlic bread and a fruit salad with cake for dessert. Lots of plates came back clean, so we're confident the meal was enjoyed and appreciated. Great work everyone. 👏 👍🏻 👌 💪 🙌

We teamed up with Friends of Leagrave Park for our monthly litter pick. Thank you to Pastor Charmaine, Martin, Dave and Omar, plus other members of the community, we managed to make the park that bit prettier. Amongst the haul was a particular tortoise, a ‘message’ in a bottle and the famous drum kit.
Let’s hope that the tortoise is still breathing, wherever he may be.
