Luton Report written by Martin R
Foodcycle had support from 4 Luton Goodgymers tonight. Gill took care of the food collection, grabbing food that would have otherwise gone to waste from the local supermarket. Then I got stuck in with other Foodcycle volunteers in the kitchen and we prepared a 3 course meal for 43 visitors. The 3 courses were, a fantastic Leek and potato soup for starters, vegetable stir fried noodles for main and apiece of cake from quite a selection that was on offer today. Omar and Dinner Dee helped the hosting team by serving the meals and refreshments and preparing and handing out surplus food bags. Great effort tonight team, well done 👏

Tonight 3 Goodgymers helped Breakfast Battery Boxes by building the last shelving unit that was donated to them by a local business. These shelves make organising donations and stock for BBBs a whole lot easier and helps their community project run a lot smoother during peak times in the school holidays. Having this extra space will help their team in February half term and beyond. Well done team 👏

Week 4 of The BIG January tidy up and 4 of the Luton faithful are still happy to brave the elements to keep their communities looking immaculate. This week seeing a part of Hightown getting the once over, Wardown Park having a pre parkrun tidy up and the area around Holy Trinity Church ⛪️ being cleared of 6 bags worth of rubbish. Really good effort this week team. Well done 👏

It’s the 4th week of January, and we have been checking with our neighbours and friends to check if they have finished up any more of their Christmas sweets.
Gill, Ella, Pam and Omar all managed to find an empty tub, and have delivered them to the various Greene King Pubs around Luton. The Jolly Topper got the price for the jolliest bar staff who was thrilled when Gill dropped off her tub. Pam took the opportunity to have a cheeky mocktail with her son after walking to the Jolly Milliners, Ella had begged a tub from her mum and dropped it off at The Swan, and Omar made a trip with Gill to Biscot Mill again to drop of his tub.
