We welcomed Ralf on his first Goodgym Mission, and his partner Maddie on her 3rd but first in a Goodgym Red T shirt. Ian was attending with his own 🛶 but unfortunately it had a puncture. Dave and his family were in a canoe already and was lucky to photobomb the interview of the organisers of this River Clean by ITV Anglia. Susanna arrived by cycle with her children, I arrived on foot on my own 🥲 After all signing in, and collect bin bags and litter pickers we were divided into groups and off we went . We managed to collect a bag of rubbish and as Ian & I walked back we spotted Maddie & Ralf in one of the Canoes and they were near the bank having spotted a bike in the river, another group member on the bank pulled it out. Great spot, Ian and my best find a nappy 🙈 on returning to the finish the bin bag heap included the bike and a very dirty backpack, loads of traffic cones. After an hour and a half some of us left for home, others stayed longer. Another task well done. And we made the local evening news 📰

A healthy band of 12 Goodgymers descended (or ascended more correctly) on Mousehold Heath on Monday night. We were soon giving our instructions from Will the warden who explained how clearing bracken from the Heath is an ongoing task which allows the natural grassland to recover and promotes growth of a wide range of species.
We were split into two groups, tasked with pulling up or raking and piling bracken with the groups switching at half way.
It was lovely to see so many members together at one task, hopefully a sign of things to come soon.
We left with a big area cleared and a happy warden, and for those who ran at least it was downhill on the way home!
Special mention to Bobby for inspiring the pun, and Emrys for being a very good dog

5 Goodgymers, Dave (and family), Andrea, Sam, Jonathan &I ( 2nd CM of the day) gathered together with Peter from this morning’s Community Mission at Pulls Ferry beauty spot by the river for a riverside area litter pick. Again after H&S and Covid guidance, sign in for Tack and Trace we were off on another litter pick. There was also the opportunity for two people to join in a rowing boat litter pick. This Mission was extremely hot! There were lots of people about along the bank side so we all remembered social distancing. Jonathon found a nook and cranny that gave up a number of items of litter which we think had been there for years and years, filling his bin bag quite quickly so Andrea and Sam took their turn to empty the chasm! After an hour we turned to go back joining up with Dave and family, deposited our bin bags and all made our weary way home

Another 8 GoodGymers took to the streets of Norwich to deliver 800-900 post cards for #FineCityNeighbours.
Robert & Kamilla partnered up, as did Michelle & Elizabeth and Emma and Michaela, while myself and Dave did some individual delivering.
Another good bulk of postcards delivered but we’ve still got a load more so please sign up to some more sessions here https://www.goodgym.org/areas/norwich/happenings/community-missions

Tonight was the first session of GoodGym Norwich delivering postcards across Norwich.
This is part of the Fine City Neighbours project, where each person in Norwich will receive a postcard, which they can then send to a neighbour or friend, to let them know they are there.
A big welcome to Jenny who was completing her first GoodGym good deed, and to Fraser who was doing his first for GoodGym Norwich.
We had an hour window for people to meet me at The Forum, to collect a batch of 100 postcards along with some street names. They paired up and off they went to help bring Norwich closer together.
We’ve got 20,000 to deliver in total and will be meeting at The Forum every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 5.30-6.30pm until we’ve delivered them all 😊
