Annual Martian Race ๐ฝ
It was that time of the year again The Annual Martian Race Around Horsell Common โ๏ธ, and once again it was a hot one ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ
This year i was once again carrying out marshal duties and was on spot M22 for the kids 2k run and then on spot M25 for the main race. I arrived early at Mclaren Park to collect my high Viz as as well a team meeting from the Woking Lions Team who hold this event every year to raise funds for local charities ๐.
Once i had all my info i headed off the main event village grabbed myself a cuppa . I had a little time before the kids race began at 08:45 so using what3words went to look at my spot for the kids race. It was a great spot on top of the hill. I then headed off to find my spot for the main race which was deep in the woods ๐ชต. I got there and still had time to get back to the village.
As i got the village i see Katie & Phil with their little girls. One of the girls was doing the 2k run and was very excited ๐ while Phil was tackling the 10k and was not to excited ๐คฃ.
While chatting we see Anne approaching us. Anne had just got back from France ๐ซ๐ท where she has been training for this event. It was great seeing Anne and she was rearing to go ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ.
It was time for the kids race to begin so i headed off to my spot while all the young runners headed to the start line for a warm up. The sun was shining and there was a great atmosphere people from all backgrounds laughing and enjoying each others company.
While at my spot i see the young runners heading towards me, some familiar faces from Junior Park Run ๐. I then see Katie with her little one and even got a high 5 โ๐ผ.
Once the last runner had gone past i headed off to my next position in the common. It was a great spot in the shade. Got chatting to so many people who were just walking their dogs and asking about the event.
The first 21k runners came by me, they were going at some pace. The first familiar Goodgym face i saw coming towards me was Anne who was doing the 5k she flew past me waving ๐.
Not far behind was GG's golden couple Nadia & Andy โค๏ธ manged to get some great photos of both them as they ran past ๐ฅฐ
Next up was Alys who i nearly missed as i was distracted by the biggest squirrel ๐ฟ i have ever seen ๐ฑ, but managed to get a wave and some photo's.
And finally i see Phil in the distance looking elegant and graceful like he always does while running ๐คฃ
As well as many other familiar faces within the community which Goodgym has helped over the years.
Once again it was a great morning and well done everyone ๐

It was a lovely sunny morning run to working park.
It was Working junior parkrun number 317 on a lovely Sunday sunny morning. As Adam arrived with James the course was all setup and waiting for the event to start. Having arrived, Adam and James registered with the run director to find out our positions. Adam was given volunteer position 11, at the top of the hill and James was by the first bridge. Katie and Phil had already arrived and we're ready for scanning and Karen was marshaling in the first half of the course. The run started off well with everyone having a quick start. It wasn't long before the first finishes had completed the first lap, starting the second strongly. The first runner to finish was Oliver coming in at 7:48 followed by Joshua only 2 seconds behind so that must have been a tight finish There were plenty of volunteers helping and the GoodGymers there to support, Adam, James, Katie, Phil and Karen had a great impact. It was a great junior parkrun. Time to sign up for the next task on Wednesday
Sunday 22nd June 2025

Phil Jackson run a race with GoodGym for the first time.
Phil has done their first race with GoodGym. Performing on the day is a lot of pressure; Phil's dealt with the nerves and turned up on the day to make it happen.

Annual Martian Race ๐ฝ
It was that time of the year again for the Woking Martian Race. It was not as hot as it has been previous years but still a very warm day. Today there were plenty of events going on with most GoodGym members either taking part in the race and volunteering as marshals.โ๏ธ
James unfortunately could not be at this years events as he was doing the Richmond 1OK and then straight after heading to Kingston for the Southern Athletics League event ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ.
Wayne arrived at the event village early as he pulled out of the race due to not being ๐ฏ% so decided to volunteer as a marshal. Wayne had to be at the event for 07:30 for a safety briefing as well as picking up his high viz, instructions on how to get to his marshal spot as well as a goodie bag from the sponsors ๐. Wayne also helped some of the local vendors with setting up their stalls. Wayne was at checkpoint 29 which was quite close the event village and in the shaded woodland ๐ณarea of the common โ๏ธ. Wayne had enough time to go and find his spot and come back to see his fellow goddgymers.
First to arrive was Annewith her beaming smile she was rearing to go, Annehas been getting her regular runs in the week in preparation for her tackling the 10k route ๐โโ๏ธ.
Next to arrive where the Jacksons. Katie & Phil had signed up to do the 10k and have been training really hard for it especially Katie. Shortly after Kirsty, Adam, & Alys arrived.
Alys was doing the 5k while Adam who is currently nursing an injury decided to do the 10k along with Kirsty who was running for the first time in Months after her injury they both decided to run together same as last year โค๏ธ
Nadia & Andy arrived they were originally part of the cheering squad but decided to sign up t do the 5k which was great. It was fantastic to see so many local running clubs as well as local organisations that Woking GG have helped over the years. There was plenty of support for everyone from all over the course ๐
First to go were the kids who were doing 2k it was great to see many young faces from the junior park run that Woking GG have an active role. This was followed by the 21k, which was then followed by the 10k and finally the 5k.๐๐ผโโ๏ธ
Wayne had to head off to his post which was checkpoint 27.The first GG Runner that Wayne saw was Nadia & Andy. Shortly after Phil came towards Wayne Phil got extra shouts of support as he is Wayne favourite ๐คฃ. Wayne had to wait a while before he saw the next GG member and it was the lovely Katie always smiling and looking fresh as a daisy ๐จ.
There was another wait about 15mins before Wayne saw Alys all in Red, with her tutu and GG Cap laughing and smiling away ๐โโ๏ธ. In the distance Wayne saw a red shirt and it was Anne and went to see her but noticed that Anne had her hand wrapped up due to her falling a few times and cutting her palm as well a bruising her arm, but Anne being tough as old boots continued with her run (Superwomen)
Shortly after in the distance Wayne heard a familiar laugh it was Kirsty & Adamcome through the clearing in the treeโs, both of them doing incredibly well considering their injuries.๐
It was now coming up to 3 hours and Karl the tail runner appeared with the final runner. We all ran back together and cheered the final runner across the finishing line.
Everyone did so well and once again plenty of money was raised for local charities ๐
After the event some members headed home while a few headed into town for a well deserved lunch.๐
Fantastic work everyone see you all next year.

This morning Adam, Katie and Phil made their way to Woking Park to volunteer with Junior Park Run.
The sun was shining and this meant a great turn out of children and their parents who either ran with them or cheered them on around the course.
In total 183 children made it through the finish funnel, with the fastest runner completing the course in 7:41.
It was a great morning seeing so many children being active and enjoying themselves.
