🏃♀️🎨
Date: Today
Distance: Short stroll from campus (but long on impact!)
Destination: Thorlands Community Gardens
Mission Leader: Simon (our green-fingered hero 🌱)
What happens when you mix artistic students with gardening gloves? Pure mulch-ic to our ears! 🎵 Our brilliant UAL collaborators proved they’re not just masters of the canvas - they’re also ace with a spade!
Fresh faces and familiar ones joined forces for a gardening adventure that was absolutely mint to be! 🌿
Our fantastic volunteers really rose to the occasion with:
🌿 Bramble Bashing - Those thorny troublemakers didn’t stand a chance!
🌱 Weeding - We were rooting for success and got it!
🪴 Shovelling & Shifting - Moving mountains (well, compost piles) one scoop at a time
🍂 Mulching - Spreading the love (and wood chips) like pros
The UAL students were absolutely thyme-less in their dedication! Every single one got stuck in with enthusiasm that would make a sunflower jealous. Their energy was so infectious, even the earthworms were motivated! 🪱
Bonus Round: Many volunteers went home with more than just muddy trainers - they scored some gorgeous basil and parsley plants! Nothing beats earning your herbs the hard way. Talk about sage advice from Simon! 🌿
Another ground-breaking GoodGym session in the books! The collaboration between our running community and the creative minds at UAL was simply fern-tastic.
Until next time, keep running, keep growing, and remember - we’re always rooting for you!
Report compiled with love, laughter, and probably some soil under the fingernails 🌱💚

🏃♀️ What a BRAMBLE-iant evening we had at Thorlands Gardens! Our superhero Run Leader Tilly swooped in to save the day and lead our merry band of do-gooders on another epic mission. With great power comes great responsibility... and apparently great gardening skills! 🦸♀️
We tackled a classic Simon special that really got us digging deep (literally!). Half our crew went absolutely WILD chopping back those unruly brambles in the chamomile garden - talk about getting straight to the POINT! Meanwhile, our leaf-mould ferry service was running at full capacity, transporting precious cargo from the clubhouse pile to join forces with the wood chip mountain. 🌿
It was wheelie good teamwork! 🚐
Tonight's harvest of heroes deserves a special shout-out - we welcomed TWO fantastic newbies to the GoodGym family! Ashleigh and Daniel jumped straight into the action and proved they're absolute GEMS. With fresh faces and fresh energy, we managed to get a MULCH-titude of work done in record time!
The garden is now looking absolutely mint (well, chamomile actually), and we're feeling pretty chuffed with our evening's work. Another successful mission in the books - we came, we ran, we conquered those brambles!
Until next week, keep running wild! 🌱

Our fantastic volunteers laced up their running shoes and headed to Thorlands Gardens to lend Simon a helping hand with the chamomile garden project. The team really got their hands dirty continuing the excellent work from our previous visit - tackling those persistent weeds that just won’t leaf us alone!
A very warm welcome to Hanna for her first session as well - great to have you with us!
The group worked tirelessly clearing the stubborn weeds and transporting wood chip around the garden. It was certainly no walk in the park, but our volunteers really rose to the occasion and showed they’re not afraid to get down and dirty for a good cause.
Simon was absolutely thrilled with the progress made - you could say the team really grew on him! The chamomile garden is looking mint to be, and with all that fresh wood chip spread around, the area is really starting to bloom into something special.
Another fantastic effort from the GoodGym Lambeth crew proving that when it comes to community gardening, they’re simply the best bunch we could ask for - they always help our community projects flourish!
Well done to all who participated in making Thorlands Gardens an even more beautiful space for everyone to enjoy.

Wednesday’s session kicked off at the Old Spike in Peckham, where Daryl gave us the introduction to our run. Gallage and Karthik joined us for their first Goodgym session! They chose the perfect one to come to - as we had planned for our monthly social for later that evening. After the warm-up stretches to loosen up those muscles, we headed on our 2.5K run to Thorlands.
Upon arrival at Thorlands, we were greeted by Simon, who provided us with clear instructions for the task ahead. The team then got to work on some essential mulching.
After completing our tasks at Thorlands, we made our way back to Peckham. To round off a fantastic session, we headed to Frank’s in Peckham for a well-deserved drink. It was a great opportunity to chat, and appreciate the great group we have at Southwark.
Thanks to everyone who came along and contributed. Looking forward to our next session next Wednesday!

Our fantastic GoodGym runners really rose to the occasion this week, racing over to Thorlands Gardens where they were chamomile-ing at the bit to get stuck in! The team showed they had plenty of thyme on their hands as they tackled a variety of tasks.
We had two new members with us last night so Jenny and Maddy it was lovely to have you with us!
The volunteers were absolutely rooting for success as they laid cardboard with precision - you could say they really nailed it down! Their work was nothing short of ground-breaking as they created the perfect foundation for the chamomile garden border.
When it came to litter picking, our green-fingered heroes left no stone unturned, proving that many hands make light work. They showed that every piece of rubbish had met its match - talk about a clean sweep!
The real chip off the old block moment came when the team started shifting woodchip. They moved (small) mountains of mulch with an oak-kay attitude. You could say they were pine-ing for the perfect finish, and they certainly delivered! The border transformation was tree-mendous - our volunteers really knew how to mulch it up.
By the end of the session, the chamomile garden was looking scent-sational and weed-free. The team proved that with a little patience and a lot of sage advice, any garden can bloom into something beautiful.
Mint to be together, this group of volunteers showed that when you turnip with the right attitude, you can make any space radish-ingly beautiful. What an absolutely un-be-leaf-able effort from everyone involved!
Tasks Completed:
Another blooming brilliant session from GoodGym Lambeth! See you next week :0)

It was just myself and Simon at Thorlands Gardens today. After a good 15-20 minutes chat, we got started with the first of two tasks. Firstly l, he asked me to go and collect three crates of herbs and vegetables from Fabrice in Myatts Fields with the wheelbarrow. The second task was to bring over three massive wooden pallets from The Sun of Camberwell pub which is going through a refurb and wanted to get rid of their pallets, which they didn't need any more. These will be reused for planters.
