Today's team at the Lido were Catherine, Geraldine, Harry, Louisa and Mel. Paul was waiting for us with our list of jobs and each of us took our pick. Harry was meeting friends later and didn't want to paint and risk any splashing, but happy to don a white protective suit for some rubbing down and then some sweeping up on the north east steps. They did a very good Elvis impression as you can see from the photo! Louisa was on the leaf blower making a good pile ready for bagging, headphones on in a world of her own. Catherine sweeping and weeding on the flat area. Geraldine and Mel were painting in the Ladies changing room with Kieren, another Lido volunteer. Geraldine showed how bendy she was getting on and off the platform ladder, whilst cutting in. Mel trying (but not always succeeding) to avoid painting over some tiny spiders - sorry incy wincy 🙁 then spent about 20 minutes stirring the new white paint container which resembled Greek Yoghurt - thick at the bottom, whey like runny on the top! Eventually reaching the right consistency to carry on. We managed to time our finish with the heavens opening and a very heavy rainful. But it will give all the trees and plants a good dousing. General progress is good and getting ever closer to opening the Lido to the general public. GoodGym are back next week to continue helping achieve this. Sabrina, one of the Trustees expressed her appreciation and thanks to GoodGym's ongoing support to the Lido as key to the great progress being made.

Today we had Emma on temperatures, Geraldine in the corridor and Sarah in the waiting room. It was Geraldine's first time at the clinic, she was a bit surprised at how quiet it was but on the plus side it allowed us an opportunity to have a bit of a catch up. Not many takers for vaccinations this morning, but we managed to find things to pass the time. Kath opened a tin of Heroes which contained a word game. So we had to think of an answer beginning with a certain letter - quite easy when you have a more common letter. So we decided to pick a more tricky letter... "J". Something orange beginning with "J".... Julienne Carrots of course (Nice one Geraldine) and something that rotates beginning with "J".... Jupiter! (Nice one Emma!). Sarah wasn't so clever with the answers but did entertain herself by tidying the Wooden Landscape on the wall.
.... we also got bacon butties!!!!!

Geraldine Ramsay cheered by other people 25 times.
Geraldine is part of a crowd that's making a huge noise. Geraldine has been cheered by 25 people - that's a round of applause just on their own. We hope they keep it up.

Over the Easter weekend Goodgyners showed off their running, navigation and general craftiness to find and create some beautiful pompey eggs. Everyone was very diligent with Sam Eliand Katie all getting a Full Basket of Eggs! The egg frames were brilliant with Kat and Jo K making colourful traditional designs. Geraldine and Katie making theirs from their Easter egg packaging and Samantha creating an amazing Easter Bunny teletubby wearing shorts! Many runners found extra eggs on their travels I love the Artists Ric Robinson's beatiful cat painting being taunted by the Easter bunny! The sun shone and the egg photos were amazing. Well done everyone!

4 GoodGymers battled the winds whether by running or walking to meet up at speakers corner for a morning beach clean! We joked about changing the clean to be in this sheltered square but eventually mustered the courage to head back into the wind and onto the beach.
John & Geraldine headed towards the pier she Vicki & myself went towards the rock by castle field. The beach was surprisingly cleaner than usual and we only found small bits blown up to the top of it. So once Vicki got herself out of a rock and a wet place (the waves) we headed back to the pier to find the others. Our most interesting find was a bossy dog rolling around in the pebbles till his human finally agreed to walk him down to the water!
Back on the pier side, John & Geraldine were much more successful with there findings. I caught Geraldine drinking on the job under the pier (just kidding!) and she had to dispose of half a bottle of rosé to put in the recycling bag. John found some more recyclables, but mainly found not only our litter pick sock find, but also a pair of trousers & gloves to join a sole rubber shoe!
After playing around with our findings we finally chucked it all in the trash and John & Vicki took the recycling home with them. Then we said our goodbyes and made our separate ways back into the wind.
