All Aboard 🚂
NEWS
A massive shout out & good luck to Maya who is in Chicago to do the Marathon at some point today, will be keeping an 👀 on Strava.
A big welcome to Agathe who joined us today for her first task. Agathe heard about Goodgym while she was in London and is looking forward to join the Woking team 😀
Anne ran to the task this morning and in total did a distance of 15k this morning (She is a Machine 😀)
Wayne & Lauren came straight from this mornings junior park run. Once at the venue we met up with Richard and a few other volunteers to build the train track. First thing we had to do was take out 16 chairs and place them around the hall for the parents to sit. Then the fun stuff began.
We are started at different areas in the hall and started to build the tracks towards each other hoping that they would all connect.
Lauren & Agathe were very creative giving the train track an extra dimension 🤣
Anne was letting Agathe know what Woking GG were all about and that we were having our 7th birthday celebrations next week hopefully Agathe will come along and meet the rest of the crew.
In no time we had finished just in time as the kids were arriving to enjoy the train track 🚂
Well done everyone great job this morning see you all next week. 😀

Wayne Kirsty, & Sharon were marhalls out on the course cheering and supporting the runners as they went around the 2k course. Adam was timekeeper this morning.
In total there were 125 runners with the fastest time a fantastic 07:16. There were also 26 PB's some great running by everyone 😀

Bulb Planting Event 🍀
This evening Woking GG headed to Brookwoods Memorial Halls to clear an area behind the hall for a bulb planting event. 🌱
Wayne ran from Knaphill and got to the halls first we he met Steph who is the manger of the halls and who asked for our assistance. Wayne helped Steph unload her car with all the tools that were required for the task. The area was quite a large area and went back deep. Steph's parents also joined us.
With tools in hand work began to remove the brambles shortly after Nadia & Anne joined the group they both also ran from Knaphill but along the canal 🏃♀️. They got stuck in straight away by filling up the bags with the brambles that had already been removed. We were soon joined by Alys & Quinn 🐶, followed by Adam who ran from Woking, Julie & Lauren it was great seeing Lauren who is still recovering from an injury.
Whilst working away we got talking to Steph who told us that the bulb planting event was going to happen during Halloween 🎃 with arts & crafts and other activities ( Sounds like a fun event)
The Surrey 1/2 was still on peoples mind, the event, atmosphere, runners was just amazing and all GG Woking runners did amazingly well.
The sun was setting and Steph brought out Tea & Biscuits for everyone. The area we had cleared looked so different, it was now a great space to plant bulbs. 😀
It total we had done 14 bags 👏🏽 We cleared up said our goodbyes and headed off Anne, Adam, Alys & Quinn, Nadia ran back along the canal, Julie headed home, while Julie dropped Wayne off back in Knaphill.
Great job everyone, see you soon 😀
Wed 11th Sep at 7:00pm
We are hoping lots of families and children will join us in this free event to help those who cannot afford expensive trips and also to bring the local community together.

*The Martian Race *
What a difference a year makes. This time last year it was the hottest day of the year ☀ This morning it was no was no where near in actual fact the running conditions were fantastic. The atmosphere in the event village was amazing and seeing so many faces from other local running groups was great 😀. Kirsty & Lauren who had signed up fir the 5k but who are unfortunately carrying injuries along with Adam who signed up for the 10k and is currently injured decided to walk the 5k route. 👍🏾.
Wayne, Abi, James, & Anne were all doing the 10k.
It was great seeing other local running groups that we know. As well as representing GG James & Abi were also running for Woking AC. Before the main race we cheered and encouraged the mini runners who were doing a 2k Kirsty especially was very vocal in her encouragement 🤣 by the time shes watched the England game ill be surprised if she has not lost her voice. 🏴.
9:30 The main race began after a quick warm up we were off. The first 1k was on an open field with an incline and then it was straight into the common 🌴 There were plenty of spectators out on the course as well as the marshals who were supporting the runners around.
Rich who is a good friend of the Woking GG team came in 1st overall in the 5k. Fantistic result and he donated his prize money back to the charity, what a guy 👍🏾.
Abi finished first followed by James then Wayne and then Anne all were very happy with their times especially Anne coming first in her age group 🎉
After a well deserved drink and some photos we said our goodbyes and headed home.
It was a fantastic morning 😀.
