101 children took part in the 184th Woking junior parkrun and 5 GoodGymers helped this morning.
There were 22 PBs, the first to reach the finishing line ran the 2 kms course in 7ā33 and the 101st in 21ā28.
James and Rich had run 21 kms before volunteering, Anne did 5 kms and Wayne cycled all the way there before doing a 5k run himself.
Bryan and Kirsty cheered all the runners as well as their son who managed to gain a PB (he had magic running shoes today though: his uncleās -James!).
Wayne scanned the finish tokens that James had handed out. After encouraging the runners Anne joined Wayne to sort the tokens ready for next week.
The team met in the town centre for a well-deserved breakfast!
Congratulations to Wayne and James who ran a Brutal yesterday and well done to Kirsty who helped during a critical incident at parkrun.
Next Wednesday we will join the Run Company to do our monthly ālitter-pickingā with the councilās support. Have a great running week.

Woking junior parkrun 183ā¦. Hot, hot, hot!
Congratulations to the children who came this morning. There were a few āfirst timersā and a couple of ātouristsā too. Three children received a wristband for achieving an ultra, a marathon and half marathon. Well done Teddy, Reuben and Quin.
Despite the heat, 61 children took part in the 2 kms course in Woking Park. Some ran, others jogged, walked and one even danced joyfully around the cones when reaching the finishing line.
The first runner, Katie, crossed the line in 7minutes 19 seconds soon followed by Thomas achieving 7minutes 41seconds.
Well done to all who took part under this heatā¦ and lucky to those whose parents rewarded them with a visit to the ice cream van!
Thank you to the volunteers who cheered and encouraged the young runners.
Please get in touch if you and/or your child can volunteer, all of the roles are very easy, and we will talk you through any roles that you havenāt done before. Please email: wokingjuniors@parkrun.com and we will gladly add you to our roster.
As usual, Woking GoodGym were in force to help on this very hot Sunday morning when 61 children took part in the junior parkrun 183.
James was the Run Director guiding us towards different roles:
Adam welcomed the children who attended for the first time and was also a time keeper.
Katie, Kirsty, Lauren and Phil marshalled, enthusiastically encouraging the children.
Anne gave out the barcodes and sorted them with Georgina.
James ran 10 kms before setting up the course with Rich. Adam who completed the Kempton half marathon yesterday took a well earned rest from his morning run.
Katie and Phil ran 10 kms to the park and back home. Kirsty enrolled her partner to volunteer and her son to take part in the junior parkrun. Unfortunately, she hurt her knee last Wednesday so must take a break from running. Anne ran 2 kms most of it was risk assessing the course.
Thank you James for leading such a fantastic team! Are you joining us on Wednesday for group run to Brockhill care home in Knaphill? We will meet at WWF to run along the canal. In the meantime: Happy running!

Our mission tonight was to finish painting the reception area of Brockhill. Brockhill is a community housing project in Goldsworth Park. Brockhill always has work for us, and in these sub zero temperatures we were glad to have an indoor task! We headed off on a gentle jog along the Basingstoke Canal on the 3.4km route to Goldsworth Park. This gave us chance to find out what everyone was up to at the weekend. George and Barbara done some training involving a 30km ride, 10km run and 1km swim- now that's commitment! Once at Brockhill we set about our task and soon the conversation turned to holidays, with Claud saying she's off Skiing in Italy, while George and Barbara are skiing in Switzerland. After 40 mins we were done and headed back using Barbara's "shortcut"!!!! Check out our route on Strava under Woking Goodgym and join up.

Tonight's task was to clear an allotment for an elderly lady who was finding it hard to cope with the workload. Unfortunately after the days heavy downpours the allotment was flooded so no work could be carried out. Luckily we had some flyers left over from last weeks task advertising The Clandon Park Charity Run, so we headed up to Woking park to distribute them. After 20 mins we had finished so headed into the Park for a fitness session. This consisted of an accumulator of 10 press ups, 1 x 400m run. Then 10 press ups, 12 squats, 400m run. We added an extra set of exercises after each 400m lap until we had completed 5x 400m laps. Once this was completed, we walked over to the other side of the Park which gave us time to recover and have a quick catch up on everyone's week! There was some good news in that Mark had secured a new job after a couple of months of waiting!!! Once at the other side of the Park it was time for some intervals and fartlek training. Everyone put in 100% and its great to see such improvements in everyone's fitness. Once finished we took an easy 1km recovery jog back. Well done everyone, and remember to spread the word and bring a friend or anyone you know who wants to get fit and help out the local community at the same time!
