We were back marshalling at Coldham's Common parkrun this morning, and what a morning for it. āļø
Coupled with a spot of litter picking, thanks to Nick always being on the look out, it was definitely time well spent. There is always a great atmosphere and we enjoyed cheering lots for all the amazing runners and walkers. š£

What a glorious morning gardening in the sunshine with residents of Cherry Hinton Care Home. šŖ»
It was brilliant to welcome GoodGymers Nik and Rosalyn for their first community mission.šŖ
We spent time sprucing up the herb garden, replenishing the bird baths, and planting up some bee-friendly flowers, supporting biodiversity in the garden. Joined by residents M and R, we learned a lot about the different plant varieties thanks to M's encyclopaedic knowledge of flowers. There really was a lovely sense of community and even some delicious cake! āļø

To kick off WWF x GoodGym's Workout for Nature, we joined volunteers from Abbey People to support their Seeds of Hope project. The aim of the project is to create new habitats for wildlife and improve biodiversity along a key wildlife corridor in Cambridge. š±
Today's task was to plant bare root trees and shrubs into designated areas along the corridor, which will create an environment similar a natural woodland floor.
Before we even started, Dan was inspiring us by sharing interesting facts about the trees we were planting and why they were chosen. Work has already started in the area with some deadwood logs providing important habitat for insects and fungi. We found 'King Alfred's cakes' fungus and lots of holes indicating the nests of ground-nesting bees (we of course took time to get some snaps).
It was tiring work, digging in some hard ground, but we made good progress and had a lovely morning in the sunshine getting to hear more about the project as well as other farming and community garden projects in the area.
Thank you to Caitlin and Emma for making it happen. We look forward to seeing you next week for more digging! šŖ

This weekend we headed over to the Cambridge Museums site to help set up and pack down the Cambridge Fesival's Family Weekend. We had a warm welcome from Jennie and the team who were busy getting everything organised for a fun weekend of workshops and activities.
It was brilliant to have new GoodGymer, Hope, join us for her first community misson šŖ
In true GoodGym style, we cracked on with the heavy lifting, moving tables, chairs and sofas to help set up activity rooms and relaxation rooms.
There was a buzzing atmosphere and it was a great task for some strength training!
