Tonight 12 Goodgymers ran or cycled 6km to support the Catton Grove Community Centre.
A few months ago the venue had received funding for a new meeting / event space within the community centre. The work has now recently been completed, and the new space is ready to be officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Norwich in a few weeks time.
So the task tonight was sprucing up the grounds outside the venue, so that it was fit for a Lord's visit!
Everyone got to work in different areas pulling up weeds, sweeping leaves and cutting back any overgrown hedges.
But of course the main attraction tonight was meeting Clover the 4 month puppy who came to her first GoodGym task for some socialisation!
Kudos to Sophie who achieved her 50th Good Deed recently and wore her new black t-shirt.
After 1 hour a pile of debris had been cleared and the paths and entrance to the venue was looking much smarter. Well done everyone.

Tonight was a special occasion - celebrating the 7th Birthday of GoodGym Norwich!!
8 GoodGymer's ran 5km to Catton Grove Community Centre to help tackle their overgrown exterior.
This has been a regular task over the last 7 years, and we were able to finish jobs first started a few years ago such as removing a rusted fence to help protect wildlife - well done Bobby!
Stephen gave the entire hedge a haircut, while everyone else focused on edging, litter picking and cleaning the brickwork.
We assembled a large pile of green waste ready to be collected by the council. And after a hot hour of work we tucked into some lovely birthday cake kindly supplied by one our longest serving members Elizabeth!
More celebrations will follow no doubt, and lots of memories shared of good deeds over the last 7 years.

We were blessed with the presence of GoodGym Founder & CEO, Sir Ivo Gormley (well he's a Sir in my opinion), alongside his partner Jess, who both joined us on this evening's session. They said its the first session they have attended together for about 10 years, so we were very privileged.
The task was to do some cutting back at Catton Grove Community Centre, which is always fun as we have no restrictions and can just chop everything back as much as we like, which had overgrown a lot over these last 2 months. Firstly though, we had to jog 2.75km from The Forum to get there, on a warm and muggy evening.
As you can see from the photos, the pile of cuttings was huge and will be chipped so it can be reused (not eaten - different type of chips!).
It was lovely to see Ivo and Jess. I'm not one for brown-nosing or earning brownie points with the boss as thats not my style, but everyone would agree with me that he is so down to earth, a really approachable person and just wanted to get stuck into the task, one of the reasons he started GoodGym, and that really reflects in the GoodGym ethos that he has created.

Tonight we returned to Catton Grove Community Centre to finish the task we started a few weeks ago - clearing the overgrown car park, as well as any weeds growing between the paving slabs.
Linda greeted us with trowels, hoes, rakes and brushes.
It was a very muggy jog from The Forum, but we still had energy in reserve to complete the task at hand.
Next week we're celebrating our 6th birthday!

Well what can I say, it rained heavily from about an hour before the task, until about an hour after the task.
As the evening approached, the sign ups were dropping like flies. In fact, I was the only person to meet at The Forum but luckily 3 other hardy GoodGymers came along and went straight to Catton Grove Community Centre.
The car park had lots of overgrown weeds etc around the edges, so we got our hoes at the ready and cleared pretty much all of it, s great job with just 4 people at hand.

A return to Catton Grove Community Centre to recommence the demolition hob we started a couple of weeks ago haha.
The main task was to trim back and tidy the overgrown hedges.
Towards the end of the task, we started to see lots of bats flying around.
