This week, Adam, Anne, Julie and Nadia welcomed Clare when they met at the RSPCA in Chobham.
It was Clare first mission with GoodGym. She is a runner who is not running at the moment, due to injury (does this sound familiar to us?). She is really happy to have found GoodGym as she is keen to combine running to helping the community; and we are delighted that Clare joined us.
We were asked to clear as much as possible the brambles, nettles and other unwelcomed plants around the dogs’s compound. We were only two teams but managed to work through half the area. The teams worked like machines…. We were quite pleased with the result as it made such a difference. Another evening’s work and it will be all done…
We ended the evening with the GoodGym spirit: a run around the field followed by another run round the paddock. It was challenging and great fun.
If you are available, it would be lovely to see you this coming Sunday at Woking Park to support junior parkrun.
Next week we will do more gardening tasks at Woodham Parish Church. We will start running from WWF.
In the meantime, happy running to everyone. 😊

Welcome
A big welcome to Nadia who joined us on her first goodgym task, it was great having you Nadia hope its the first of many. 🏃🏼♂️
Congratulations
A big well done to our very own Becky who completed the London Marathon over the weekend. Becky has been training incredibly hard during the build up cant wait to see the medal 🥇
6 Goodgym members met up at the RSPCA this evening before we started we welcomed Nadia to her first session. Katie & Julie arrived first while we were waiting for the rest of the team we stretched our legs by running around the horse paddock. As we finished we saw Kirsty arrive Nadia was introduced and off we went to the dog agility compound. We gathered our tools from the shed and got stuck in. Kirsty & Katie started on the left side of the fencing while Wayne, Nadia, & Julie headed to the right side. In no time we were half way around. Lauren arrived straight from her fitness class. We started talking about Becky's London Marathon & after watching it on telly inspired Lauren & Lauren to register for next years race.
The sun was setting so we finished off emptied the bags of the brambles and headed back to the car park. Here we said our goodbyes and headed home.
This Sunday we have Junior Park Run & also building a big train set for SEN children in Brookwood.
See you all soon.

This evening 6 GG members met up at the RSPCA to help decorate the welfare facilities for the staff members who work there.
Wayne got there a little early and had time to do a 5k run. Anne arrived shorty after followed by Kirsty & Rosie, & Julie Lauren was going to join us after her gym class. Before we headed to reception we did a gentle jog along the entrance road just to get warmed up as it was a little nippy. 🥶 We then made our way to reception where we met Claude who works at the RSPCA. She showed us the two WC's and the corridor that needed painting. All the paint, brushes, and dust sheets were provided.
We split up into two groups Anne Julie & Rosie Started to prep one room while Wayne & Kirsty started the other. We were joined by a very curious feline friend the RSPCA's resident 12 year old cat named Primrose. 🐱 Lauren joined us shortly after and got stuck in straight away she has a master roller user while Kirsty and Wayne did the cutting in. The girls next door were also making quick work of it, Anne being very meticulous with the brush. With all the recent painting tasks Goodgym have been doing recently Kirsty is so confident with her painting skills that she now feels shes up to decorating her house 😬.
After an hour we had pretty much done Wayne was so engrossed in the task that he forgot to open his fast which he did 30mins after the time with a twix.
We cleared up said good bye to Claude & Primrose as we went through reception we all started to look at the animals pictures that needed homes, "Could be some takers"
We will be back to finish up and start on the corridor once Claude confirms dates.
Well done everyone you all were amazing. 😄

Last night Alys Julie , Sharon and myself met at the RSPCA in Millbrook. Whilst Adam and James ran the route from Woking. It was Julie and Sharon's first group run experience and it was wonderful to meet you both, I hope to see you again soon!
We headed to the dog compound, we were also joined by Toby, Indy and Jack the fluffy four legged members who get to enjoy the RSPCA facilities. After quick introductions and Toby telling Indy and Jack who was boss, they enjoyed chasing each other around. We had the task of clearing the brambles, weeds and nettles which keep on growing back, no matter how many times we clear them! Everyone worked hard and we managed to clear the majority of the compound, we even ran the 1km loop around the fields of the RSPCA which even the dogs enjoyed. It was a beautiful evening to be out.
Remember you can sign up to help volunteer this weekend at the junior park run.
Next week
We have a slightly different week - we will be running to The Frog in Deepcut, we will be leaving from pirbright and its around a 3.5 - 4 km run to the pub. Its a lovely run, with no roads straight up the canal. We won't leave anyone behind, so all are welcome. Free parking is available - Vapery Lane.
*I will also be adding more group runs on the website in the coming days so please keep checking back or check your emails for notifications. *

Last night it was super hot to be working outside but that didn't stop our team.
Anne, Holly, Wayne, Katie and Alys met at the RSPCA.
Adam and me jogged from Woking, having met at WWF. Our run featured a cameo appearance from Postman Nick which was great.
Holly had told the RSPCA that we might need more 🔧 as it's a good turnout and we were pleased to see lots of shiny new chopping tools and bags for the green waste.
After around 45 mins we had cleared the fast growing brambles from approx 50% of the huge 🐕 compound, tidied up the waste and left.
Adam and me were grateful to Anne for driving us back to Woking where we refuelled at the pub 🍺

The air had a fresh breeze and the sky was sky ablaze with the fire of the setting sun. A perfect evening for GoodGym to take on the task at the RSPCA Millbrook.
Indy and Jack the fluffiest GoodGym members joined us last night to check out the agility compound, with Anne, Lauren, Katie and myself all meeting in the car park we started with some Warm up exercises to help get the blood flowing. New tools had been provided (it's amazing what excites us!) so we got to work tidying up the boundary to the compound. We were soon joined by Adam and James, they had taken on the challenge to try and become Strava Champions of a segment so had ran to the task. The conversation quickly turned at the discussion on what races everyone had signed up to or were looking to sign up to in the future. Jack and Indy become everyone's best pals. With Lauren and Indy playing chase around the compound and Jack getting a lot of attention from James. The weather was a nice added bonus and I look forward to more of the Summer's evenings.
This weekend join the Junior Woking Park Run volunteers.
Next week
Plogging at 6pm meeting the Run Company - this is also the Raleigh Launch event and there will be goodies available to all members.
