Rosie Young earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.

Rosie completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Rosie was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Curiosity Didnโ€™t Kill The Cat ๐Ÿฑ

Woking Report written by Wayne

This evening 6 GG members met up at the RSPCA to help decorate the welfare facilities for the staff members who work there.

Wayne got there a little early and had time to do a 5k run. Anne arrived shorty after followed by Kirsty & Rosie, & Julie Lauren was going to join us after her gym class. Before we headed to reception we did a gentle jog along the entrance road just to get warmed up as it was a little nippy. ๐Ÿฅถ We then made our way to reception where we met Claude who works at the RSPCA. She showed us the two WC's and the corridor that needed painting. All the paint, brushes, and dust sheets were provided.

We split up into two groups Anne Julie & Rosie Started to prep one room while Wayne & Kirsty started the other. We were joined by a very curious feline friend the RSPCA's resident 12 year old cat named Primrose. ๐Ÿฑ Lauren joined us shortly after and got stuck in straight away she has a master roller user while Kirsty and Wayne did the cutting in. The girls next door were also making quick work of it, Anne being very meticulous with the brush. With all the recent painting tasks Goodgym have been doing recently Kirsty is so confident with her painting skills that she now feels shes up to decorating her house ๐Ÿ˜ฌ.

After an hour we had pretty much done Wayne was so engrossed in the task that he forgot to open his fast which he did 30mins after the time with a twix.

We cleared up said good bye to Claude & Primrose as we went through reception we all started to look at the animals pictures that needed homes, "Could be some takers"

We will be back to finish up and start on the corridor once Claude confirms dates.

Well done everyone you all were amazing. ๐Ÿ˜„

No Paint, No Gain ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ

Woking Report written by Wayne

This evening 8 GG members ran between to help a local community organisation.

This evening James, Wayne, Kirsty, Adam, Katie, Anne, & Rosie met at Woking leisure centre & set off to the Foodwise community hub.

It was a dry but chilly evening; perfect conditions for a run.

Anne was back marker making sure no one was left behind while Adam, Wayne & Rosie led the way. ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝ

When we arrived at the food bank Julie was already there and with Shani and Doreen had set everything up for us to get stuck in.

We all split into pairs and tackled the 4 walls. We last came a few weeks ago and the paint looked really nice we got our brushes going.

James put on his running play list to to work along to. We had some old school anthems ๐ŸŽถwhich reminded Kirsty of her clubbing days ๐Ÿ’ƒ.

In no time we had finished the 4 walls and it looked great. A great colour sage green. We then stopped to have a healthy snack bar and healthy organic drink which was kindly provided by Shani.

Once fuelled up we headed back to the leisure centre via the pub for a bite to eat.

This was such a great rewarding task and hopefully we will be back to carry out many other tasks.๐Ÿ˜€

Regards Wayne

Conveyor belt

Woking Report written by Removed User

Last night we headed to the Foodbank to help pack up the bags for Chrismtas.

We had a great turn out with members and welcomed Victoria to her first GoodGym Group run experience. Well done to Rachel, James, Adam and Anne ran just over 4km to Knaphill Food bank in the Landsbury estate. The obviously had the run back.

It started off an eventful night with Anne and Lauren getting locked in the porridge cupboard and Sharon, Rosie and Rebecca being lost in the car park.

Once we were all ready we had 55 bags to load, we started by getting all the goods in crates. We were all assigned a good to pack and got in a line, with Kirsty starting the Conveyor belt it made it down the line to be taken into reception ready to be given out to those in need.

Last night was out last session of 2023 and my last offical Group run as area activator. I will be helping out in the background until a new activator can take over but due to personal reasons I will not be able to continue.

Remember to join in for the first session in January - more sessions will be appearing soon for you to sign up to.

Have a Wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
