Woking Report written by Luan (She/Her)
Our mission Owl Box Installation๐ฆ & Maintenance Of Existing Boxes (St John's Lye) Woking.
It was another Biodiversity task, so for me (Luan) I jumped into action this Saturday morning; our mission was sooo interesting and cool!
Meeting with first Wayne and then Kirsty (two of my most favourite positive and encouraging members) in the carpark everyone was in good spirits! Working with members of WEAct we had 3 Owl Boxes to replace and 1 that in the end was just inspected and maintained (loads of foliage was removed from it). Using our map of St John's Lye, see picture attached the boxes were placed strategically around the area.
The boxes were already made for us to put up, but we had to add or nail in a perch onto them first, the biggest challenge finding the right tree and then, it was a man's kind of job to drill the boxes into the trees up ladders. The girls helped by carrying kit around the location and clearing all nails from older boxes that could then be left to biodegrade.
So much fun!
Thanks Everyone :-)

What a fantastic turn out for the mission at Woking Foodbank as 13 GoodGymers turned up to do a deep clean. The Foodbank is one of our regular and most popular missions where we usually clean the floors and wipe the surfaces. But Kirsty had the great idea to do a deep clean of all the shelves and fridge etc. Because there were so many of us it didn't take too long and we ended the evening with the traditional photo on the staircase. A massive cheer to Rob and Stephanie for their second mission with Woking GoodGym and to Julie for reaching 50 good deeds. We can't wait to see you in the black t-shirt Julie. Also a massive well done to Luan who ran non-stop from the Foodbank back to the meeting point at the leisure centre after a break in running. You are officially a runner now Luan.

Woking Report written by Wayne
*Millmoor Common *
This mornings outdoor task was part of GG's x WWF Work Out In Nature calibration. ๐
Big welcome to Jemma who joined us for her first GG task, hopefully the first of many ๐
Wayne & Luan met up with Jemma & Charlie and his volunteers from We Act ๐ at a new location Millmoor Common in Old Woking.
Todays task was to find an area which could be turned over to so wild flowers could be seeded and hopefully grow ๐
Charlie as always brought all the tools that were required to carry out the task. The area was marked out and then we all git stuck in pulling out the weeds and turning over the soil. Millmoor Common is prone to flooding and the common itself is quite large and the spot we found would be one of many.
Luan who loves an outdoor task was telling us how she has been getting out and running regularly even doing a 6k run last week, keep up the good work.
After an hours work of clearing the area we all scattered the wildflower seeds that Charlie had brought, we then moved over to the other side of the common to find another suitable area. Before we started to dig up a well deserved coffee and biscuits were given out. Once fueled up we got stuck in and in no time had the 2nd site ready for the seeds to be scattered ๐
What a great morning doing this great task ๐
